This is my 1st post, but i keep coming back every 3 months or so to check on any progress... since chapter 1 was released. Anyways, if the problem is "people are busy with other projects and dont have the spare time to work on chapther 5", then why dont they ask for help from other people? would they not find more volunteers? almost 8 billion perople in the world... if they trully love this project, then why not set it free so that others can finish it? Can they not release the game (4 episodes) on steam for free so that it attract new people to work on the 5th? would that also not bring them new attention for their paid games? There isnt a lack of resources, just a lack resourcefulness. Can anybody else here provide new ideas to get this project finished? comon on people, let's think of solutions to the problem, not just complain n tell us that it will never come out.

Trakor— you've brought up an EXCELLENT point. Thanks for posting.

I've been watching this board regularly since episode 1, too, and only started posting in the last year or so... mainly out of frustration for lack of progress.

Why don't those of us who are motivated and still on this board rally together to try to get the developers to release whatever they have for episode 5 to us, to get it finished? Specifically, if they could release the source code/graphics/files as well as their intended final storyline, I'm positive there are people here who can help push that last episode through to completion. It might not be as polished as they would've preferred.. but it sure beats having a  forever unfinished product.

Last comment on my part - the people who worked on this originally have likely moved on in life with spouses and families and demanding jobs. Why not pass the baton to some younger generation of programmers who don't have those time limitations?

Hi Jen, it is hard to believe 2021 is almost at an end, Merry Christmas! :)

TroyMac1ure

Never posted here, but have been following for many years (maybe even a decade or more now? time flies). I always had hopes of this coming to light but I lost hope ages ago and check here extremely rarely on the hopes that something has changed.
I know in developing a project like this excitement  dies away and as a programmer (Halo2-Entity ;)) I know that when you put code down it's hard to pick it back up again. I think the only 2 ways this will ever see the light of day is if they bring new blood on board who has the excitement to revitalize it or if the code gets leaked by someone, in which case a group of individuals who all share the same passion will come together to see this to the end.

Merry Christmas to all of you who still frequent this board and provide it some life!

I know that the script got leaked a while back, and it was a huge deal and got covered up. Now I sort of wish it was still available so that someone could finish the game.

I kinda wish the same, about AGD's KQ4 remake.  I can kind of understand why they aren't able to make one, but I wish I could know how the story would've gone, how different it would be from the original, and what would ultimately become of The Father.

Speaking of KQ4 remakes... ours has made significant progress, though it's still too soon to announce a release date.  I will be posting a status update in a few days, on the UnicornTales forum though.

Good. Glad there is still progress on your project. Best of luck finding a new artist 🎨 👌

With that said now lazy TSL team needs to use this as motivation to get their chapter 5 project done as well.

Like come on. Fareal this is getting ridiculous 🙄

So I have been around for a few years here (at least 15) and I only played the first chapter and decided to wait for some more to come out, the funny part is it was recommended that I wait for chapter 5 to come out, and I am still waiting.

Should I bother playing the first 4, since I can't see 5 ever coming out at this point?
- In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo – Leonardo Da Vinci, and the Renaissance...In Switzerland, they had brotherly love.   They had five hundred years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce?  ...The cuckoo clock.

Although I personally struggle with the ending sequence of chapter 4, I think episodes 1-4 are worth the playthrough.

Why are they not completing chapter 5? Why lie to us the people and not complete the final chapter 😕

Do they not care about the game anymore? Geez

ShiftingBalance

I think that chapter 4 ends in such a way that it gives somewhat of a conclusion. Also, I love what they did with the world and think that it is worth playing. That being said, since there is no chapter 5, you might be disappointed as we all are that you won't get to see the story finished.

I personally can't recommend TSL at this point. It's a mess of poor storytelling, glitches, dated graphics, amateurish acting, obtuse puzzles, and, of course, its cliffhanger ending that will never be resolved, with its (very good) soundtrack being its only truly redeeming trait.

Perhaps now, but at the time it wasn't. Some games, sadly, don't age well. But, I for one am glad that it exists regardless. It may not ever be a finished project, but the fact that we fought for this game to be made for over a decade and won, that itself is a miracle. Yes, perhaps it might not be as good looking back on it now, but what did we have to compare it to? AGDI? IA? Those games are also flawed, have some questionable writing choices and voice acting, and I don't see any of those stories being completed either. TSL at the time was the best of the bunch, and while it's sad that it'll probably never be completed and that is a disappointment, I at least can look at more fondly than most other fanmade projects, even today.

But then, what do I know about keeping to a schedule or even what constitutes good writing, given that the Quest for Glory fanfic universe I've been at for the past decade keeps stalling with me wanting to write new drafts and I actually liked the Sequel Trilogy of Star Wars which is a crime against fandom?

Jack Stryker

I still remember how excited I was for TSL, when it first came out, just like Cognition.  Although, while I'd like to take comfort in knowing that Cognition was completed, the commentary promised that there would be a second season taking place in London.  And unfortunately, there's still yet to be any confirmation or denial of that either.  At this point, I wouldn't mind either answer - for TSL or Cognition.  I'd just like it if Katie or any of the other devs could let us know that they're still alive.  If, hopefully, they are indeed.

The best I can give you for TSL is this, from one of the directors:

FWIW, I really liked the Star Wars sequel trilogy, too. :)
