Anyone else boycotting the new "KQ" game?

Let's face it, KQ6 was the last true KQ game. This new game has nothng to do with the old games. None of the old characters or lands, nothing to do with KQ other than the name. Who do TOG think they are?
If you love King's Quest, you'll not buy this sham of a game.

Even with the information we currently have about the new game we already do know that many old characters and lands are included. Plus I personally like the art style and think it is a better fit for the series than KQ7 or MoE. I'll reserve judgment on whether it "fits" or not until I've had a chance to play through it.

Rock Knight, this is me, talking to you. I don't know what you think. I don't care what you think. If you're going to act like it's the end of the world because not everyone is universally accepting of TOG, then do yourself a favor and get off the Internet--and stay there--until you cool down. Your life isn't over because some of us (me in particular) are suspicious that TOG is only doing this to get hard-earned money out of gamers who are nostalgic for an ancient game series that was never really that high-quality to begin with. Honestly, I'm pretty sure that TOG's entry into the series will be exactly like you sarcastically stated earlier on; it's too expensive, it has no point-and-click, its graphics are cringe-worthy, its character models are ugly, it looks like it relies too heavily on arcade sections and not enough on puzzles, and the puzzles themselves will probably be pathetically easy as well.

But it isn't. The end. Of the world. Dammit. I'm not going to tell you to not worry about it--as someone who suffers from anxiety, I of all people know that someone telling you to "not worry about it" is the worst advice they can give--but I am going to tell you to man up. If the game bombs, it bombs. Who cares? We still have the fans to talk to, and the fanmade games themselves. King's Quest may die a second death at the hands of TOG, but look at all the other things we still have. We've got the AGDI remakes of the first three games, which are infinitely better and more well thought-out than the actual canon games they replaced. We have TSL, a fanmade "Grand Finale" to the series, and it's still in development meaning we still have time to speculate about what will happen. We have multiple forums, and lots of people to talk to. If TOG screws up, then the joke's on them, because we don't need them. We've got each other.

I don't post here often anymore but after reading through I find that everyone is judging this game by it's cover. Sure we've had a glimpse of game play through trailers and images but what makes King's Quest, King's Quest is the story telling. I've already pre ordered the game and was proud in doing so because no matter what I personally think about the game play later on, I'll be able to sit down with my children one day and remember when I was able to buy a King's Quest game without my parents help.   My final word on the subject...don't knock it until you try it.

Likewise. The game isn't even out yet and we've seen really hardly anything from it. And a lot of previous KQ games had little to do with the previous one--KQ2's only connection to KQ1 is Graham. KQ3 seemed to be ENTIRELY unconnected for at least 1/3rd of the playtime. KQ4 was a new protagonist in a new land. It's not as though having brand new characters and settings isn't something King's Quest has done before.

As long as the new characters are as deep, meaningful and well-written as Connor, it'll be fine.

As someone who's only 5'3", I can tell you it really would be a significant hindrance were I to be thrust into an adventure game!

...actually, my experience with adventure games would come in handy for exactly that. I'd already know what crazy items to look for and combine so I could reach faraway things that some jerk put on the top shelf.

And I thought I was short!  I'm 5'8".  My advantage... hmm... well, I have been known for being silent for long periods of time and I do tend to unwittingly startle people when I approach them.  I also have good vision.  So I might make a good rogue.

I'm 5'11 and have a deep, gravelly, masculine voice, and am too manly to not have facial hair.



On the downside, I have no social skills and am not particularly likable in person or on the Internet. Shocking, I know. I mean, you'd never know how many flamewars I've been in just by my jovial personality alone. I'm so good at masking my true feelings. I've never once been threatened with a ban.
