The 2004 Summer Olympics Thread
« on: August 13, 2004, 11:00:22 PM »
The Opening Ceremonies were today and were pretty awesome!  So, I decided to open a thread specifically for the Olympics.  XD

Same rules apply here as in the Olympics: no unsportsmanlike conduct (i.e. no country bashing), being disqualified does not make you our your country a loser ...and no drugs!  ;P

I need to get my hands on a TV Guide... they always have a nice events schedule available. Guess I cancelled my subscription a little too early. ;P

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!! ;D

I saw the replay of the opening ceremony today. It was pretty spectacular, but nothing compared to Sydney (no, I'm not biased :P). Though it may be that the Australian culture portayed in 2000 means a whole lot more to me than Greek cultural history.

It's pretty annoying about the timezone difference. All the best segmants are live at about 3am Australian time *pouts* :(

Anywayz . . . GO THE AUSSIES!!

I guess you don't love me, Jon... :( :(

Unfortunately, I'm going to miss most of the gymnastics...I'm going to be at work both today and tomorrow.  Maybe I can find a tape and record it.  *crosses fingers*

Why do you say that?   ???

Oh, and did you guys know that the Aussies flew the Iraqi team to Athens!? Wasn't that nice of us!  ;P

Why didn't you yanks do that?  ;B

EDIT (By Yonkey): Nice. Offensiveness and politics.  Do you want this thread locked too?

This is why you don't love me...bashing the US...

And since Yanks are the Northerners...I'll let Jeysie and Q decide...but I'm going on the defense, fyi.

FYI, when a foreigner refers to YANKS, they are talking about EVERYONE in the USA.   XD

Only the YANKS thinks that Yankies are northeners.   ;P

But I still love you, even though the Aussies will rule the Olympics!  ROAR!   ;D

I think Alex was the one who referred to Yanks as all Americans...and then I clarified it for him :P  And while you may call me a Yank, I'm a Southern gal.  I will never be a Yank!  The South will rise again!!

Like I said,

lol, you just helped prove my point.   ;B

That's fine for you guys, but anywhere in Australia, Europe and Asia, if I say Yank, everyone thinks USA... not just northern USA...   ;P

But I still love you.  :lovegoggles:

Lucky this is in the OFF TOPIC forum! lol, cause we went way off course.  ;]
