I finished the game, and got to see the easter egg. :D

They didn't stay true to the original though, you can't kiss or hug Rosella or show her your birthmark. ::)

Maybe the end was cut short to make room for the long ending sequence... At least they didn't make you walk down those stairs with her, that was one part I didn't miss ::)

Yeah, I expected better of IA  ;P

There are also new scenes

Also you can't kick the cat either.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

LOL, you can kick cats in the original? XD

What happens when you try to kick it here?

You can't kick it here. But try typing "kill cat" or "kiss cat" in the original. :P

I'm having trouble getting the chicken, even after feeding them, it says "The varmint scoots out of reach"

You can kick the cat in the original, and you can certainly kick it here!

The thing is, it can only be done after you take the cat hair ;)

I lot of your questions will be answered in the IA Forums. But since you probably won't "feel" like doing a simple thing like that here's your answer.  ::)
How come you can't get the cat hair. Well as Gwydion you have to ask yourself, Why do you want the hair? It's not like you need it for anything
like if you had read that you did in a book.
Also if you want a full walkthough for the game head over here:
http://geocities.com/dbs_peppy/
Check under walkthroughs and you'll get my full version walkthough 1.0.
Seeing as I'm a big Alexander fan I had to beat it right away. And since I was going to be one of the first people to beat it.(Not counting Beta Testers :P ) I decided to take the extra time to write out a walkthrough. Right now it's only 1.0 so I'll add single Item hints and easter eggs later.
Also since this game is the first version it has a lot of bugs. My walkthrough should get you through without any problems, but if not you can PM me and I'll tell you all the workarounds I did to beat it.
I didn't include them in the walkthrough because They're making a patch and as soon as it came out I'd have to mod the whole thing.

Correction: apparently, it's a different condition - you can only kick the cat when Manannan is gone. I got it wrong because of the timing ::)

Well finally completed it. Not sure why it was described as a 1:1 remake, cause well its certainly not one to one, it has plenty of new material, and alterations from the original storyline, puzzles, mechanics and other official material.

Have to say I really enjoyed it and loved coming across the new stuff.

Personally I found the spell system to be a bit too easy. I think I'd have loved a bit more mechanical system where you had to add each ingredient individually, while working from the table. This system had no urgency, where in the old game you were racing against the clock to complete spells, in hopes that Manannan wouldn't return and find you.

Also I was a bit surprised by the map system too, making the game automatically take you to the top of the mountain. That was another area that added to the urgency and racing against the clock.

If anything I found the clock to be burdonsome in this version of the game, since I wasn't really being rushed... I'd get everything done in matter of minute or two, and then have to wait 20 minutes for Manannan to return, or leave... That became rather boring... It got to the point I'd just walk out of the room get a snack, and come back much later to see if Manannan had returned.

At least in the old game I utilized much of the time actually typing out commands...

As for where the story, maps, etc differ from the original game? Well I've broken as many down as possible over in the King's Quest Omnipedia, be sure to check it out. I had alot of fun trying to find where the game differed the most from previous version.

I like the touches like when you click on Gwydion enough, he says "I wish I had an owl to keep me company." or when you find the skull in the desert that says, "No boot, though."
