Welcome Gwydion!  ;D

Looks like AGDI's got some competition! XD

Woah...those screens of KQ3 VGA look great! If they ever finish it, that game is gonna rock!

KatieHal

The screenshots do look good, though they misspelled Mannanan.... ambitious of them to have three projects going at once; I do recognize most of those names from the AGDI forums, though.

Haha, and where'd Gwydion find that smashing green Robin Hood-esque getup?  ;D

I like the outfit, it's remniscient of Alexander's outfit from KQ6. Also, I think that there are completley different teams working on QFI and KQ3.

FataliOmega

Im going to be a naysayer, for a moment.

How much can we trust these guys to pull through on KQ3+. To this date, how many freeware, adventure game remakes of good quality have come out? Not too many. And most have been exclusively from AGDI.
Lets look at the evidence.

1) Gwydion shows up without so much of a word, drops a link to his website, and departs. He doesnt stay around to answer questions, he doesnt even introduce KQ3+. Pardon me for being sober, but that doesnt seem like a very good way to garner attention.

2) They're working on 3 games at the same time. This shows, to me, a lack of focus. I doubt they have the numbers to do that many projects effectively. If Caeser suddenly recruited everyone that posts regularly on this forum, and we were all geniuses, we still wouldnt be able to take on 3 projects effectively. Its a bad sign.

3) Now, why would Gwydion come onto the KQIX forums in the first place? Take a look at their forums. These guys lack a fanbase. That means one of two things. Either they're way new, in which case we should be careful because they just might fold under the painful, long monthes that making good adventure games requires; or they have had their website up, but very little activity on their part has caused them to remain relatively unnoticed. Again, a bad sign.

4) Lastly, if Gwydion was at all serious about 'courting' the KQ9 fanbase he wouldve atleast made an effort to post more than once on our board. He wouldve given himseslf a professional-sounding signature including a weblink to the IA website, and, most importantly, he wouldve removed the "I am a llama!" from his personal dialogue.

I may be jumping the gun. Guess well know in a week or so. If he doesnt show back up here by then, I would bet good money that a quality KQ3+ from IA will never be released.

I dont like being this way, but Ive been disappointed FAR too often from independent groups. IA, if your out there, please prove me wrong. I will be your most loyal fan, if you do.

I don't debate, I ramble with STYLE!

I just have a hard time taking anyone seriously, much less trusting someone, when I have no details about a person. He didnt even have a listed email address till an hour ago (correction: still doesnt have an email address.) How do I know its not just some random person, age 14?

With that said, I do apologize if my previous post was a little to much on the "attack dog" side. I really want to see new adventure games made by new independent groups. One of my dreams is to, one day, be a part of an independent game company. I sincerely hope that AI is serious. Fans (especially me) hate to be let down. With the death of the Antioch Chronicles, which had a fanbase the size of KQ9, I just have a hard time trusting without proof. Dont you dare mislead us.  >:(

post.  Sorry, I should have quoted it in the original :P  But your arguments are valid, since some people don't understand all that goes into making a computer game (me included!).

Good PR is a key to any games success. Thats why this forum exists. Thats why the positions that Yonkey and Say occupy, exist. Now, if you want to go around posting about the AI: KQ3+ game, that falls under the category of PR. The more professional you make yourself look, the more likely people are going to take you and the game company you represent, seriously. Posting 800 times isnt important. Being on the forums you post 24/7 isnt important. But making yourself easily reachable and showing up somewhat often to make intelligent comments and answer questions, is very important. Im sure most people on this forum would agree with me. Games die without fan support. Dont knock us, we matter.

Blackthorne

Hello, I'm Blackthorne.  If you have visted www.infamous-adventures.com and seen the team section, you'd know me.  If you don't, I promise it's your loss. ::)

Let me say, here to all the naysayers:

We are going to finish everygame that we're making.
What you don't understand about the team is that we've nothing better to do than make these games.  That, and we have two seperate teams making the games.  Now, I'm sure Sierra had more than three projects running at a time when they were making games.  Otherwise, we'd never have all the games we love.

Besides, QFI and KQ3, like I said, have different lead programmers, while the artists generally work both projects.  Both games have been in production for almost 9 months now, and much work has been done.  What we choose to show people is but the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

The Tablet of Altheria is a game that is made SOLEY by one of our team-mates, BerserkerTails.  That's all him, he does that himself.  We just cheer him on.  Yay.

I appreciate the abject doubt, and I'm sorry it gets you so riled up, but I gaurentee that you'll be vilified when the game comes out.  We have some of the most dedicated and talented members of the gaming community working on these projects. Besides, it's just fan games.  Not like we're making you pay any money or devote anything for them!

Check our site for updates.  And have a pleasent day.

Blackthorne

You're not just a nay-sayer, you're also an ass.

Now, for seriousness, let me actually try and answer your charges. I've been with IA from almost the beginning as one of the head writers on BOTH projects.

How long has AGS been out there? I've only learned about this community last December. Give it time to grow buddy.

Lets look at the evidence.

Ok, but keep in mind, I have more evidence than you do.

I have absolutely no idea who this guy is. In fact, I never come here, but someone on our boards alerted us to their thread (so maybe it was them).

Perhaps it was a fan from AGDI who just wanted to get us some attention.

Maybe he was just being nice.

2) They're working on 3 games at the same time. This shows, to me, a lack of focus.
And that line shows a lack of tact.

We have a dedicated programmer on each game. So why on Earth couldn't we have three games going on at once (especialyl when one of the games is virtually entirely a one-man project?) With QFI and KQ3, it's not like the programmers could program at the same time, so doesn't it make sense to have them programming seperate games so they're constantly busy?

I think that shows productivity and excellent use of resources; not a lack of focus.

I doubt they have the numbers to do that many projects effectively.

I'm sorry, but how many times have you visited our forums (www.infamous-adventures.com/forums) to actually meet our team? Ya... I didn't think so.

If Caeser suddenly recruited everyone that posts regularly on this forum, and we were all geniuses, we still wouldnt be able to take on 3 projects effectively. Its a bad sign.
Then maybe you should get more posters on this board. :p

3) Now, why would Gwydion come onto the KQIX forums in the first place? Take a look at their forums.   These guys lack a fanbase.
OH REALLY?!? Wow, then I guess those 100 or so guests that visit our forums on the FIRST DAY of the announcement is pretty small after all.

That means one of two things. We've been around since last December. Try visiting our web-site before talking about how "new" we are. Do your homework before you open your mouth, will ya? It makes YOU look unprofessional.

All I'm going say here is get a life: who cares what he posted here.

Ya think?!

Programming is almost entirely complete. backgrounds are being finished every day. So really, honestly, whether or not he shows up again has NO impact on whether or not we finish this game.

I dont like being this way, but Ive been disappointed FAR too often from independent groups. IA, if your out there, please prove me wrong.
We will. And if you're so damn disapointed, why don't you get cranking on a game?

Quote
I will be your most loyal fan, if you do.
Wow, that's original. Becoming a fan after many have already discovered them and stuck up for them in the past. Wow, aren't you original.

Everyone, please visit our forums at www.infamous-adventures.com/forums. I hate to waste the nice KQ9 folks web-space.

FataliOmega

Thank you for the official response, and believe me, its much appreciated. I will be eagerly following your games in progress. Just be careful you dont ever promise too much.

Thank you for your time.

Blackthorne

Erik,

No problem.  It was just brought to my attention.  And believe me.... I'm not promising more than I can give.  Playing our teamdemos of this kicks ass.  Heh.

Oh, and you'll have to forgive Rambaldi.  He just went off Zoloft, and it looks like you made him mad.  He's our resident Pit-bull.  That's why we're infamous.

Happy gaming!
