Ok, I have removed the post. This is just getting silly. Theres no hurt feelings, and Im still looking forward to your games. Again, thank you for your professional attitude, Blackthorne. Take no more time to address me. Go back to your games and succeed!   :)

Thank you.

That was uncalled for, Rambaldi0503.
So was your post.

Quote
Several times during, and after, my post I said that I hoped I was wrong and that I really wanted to believe.
Good, join the legions that have seen the light! :p

Quote
You sound like youve been around a bit.
Yes, as a matter of fact. I noticed above you mocked that Gwyndion might be 14 years old. A quick glance at your profile shows you're just 19 (a mere 5 years older than your "guess"). You show your age (well, you should; your over-dramatic posts about the failure of independent adventure games makes me think you're more like 12).

Quote
Just how many times have adventure game fans been disappointed? How many times have we had our favorite companies fall apart, our favorite series get changed into random arcade games. A whole lot.
THEY'RE FRIGGIN ADVENTURE GAMES! GET OVER YOURSELF! What, you think you're original cuz you're being a pessimist? You think you're the first? That post I responded to was the typical cliche post as much as people saying, "I have this great new idea for an adventure game. Graham and Roger Wilco go bass fishing! Release will be next month!"

Quote
Im sorry that my post offended you, as it clearly did.
I wasn't offended. you don't know me, I was very sarcastic there, as I always am.

I hope I didn't offend you, I simply wanted to put your in your place.

You tried to put us in ours, and you had no right to do so. Why? Because I haven't seen you making any games lately.

Prove me wrong and showed me you've made some, or tried to, and I'll take that back.

Quote
If you dont like my skepticism, prove me wrong.
We're not making the game for you buddy. We're making it for ourselves. Then we're just going to share to all the fans who have supported us from day one. We make nothing for people like you.

We have nothing -- repeat NOTHING -- to prove to you. I care little for your skepticism.

Dont just hop on to attack me, as an individual.
Don't just hop on and attack my team. Or our projects.

Blackthorne

Erik,

Just saying, you hopped on to attack us before getting to know us.  Perhaps you could have dropped by our forums, made some points, asked to get to know us before immediately denouncing the project.

We're hard working chaps, and Rambaldi is a barbarous writer, at times.  He's just protecting our interests, because he knows how hard I work.  Also, he has to make up for what a lazy b****** he is.

But seriously, you did write a critical letter, to which I handled one way, and he handled another.  Regardless, take my word here - and believe that above all the project will be as awesome as a bag of Doritios and a Coke.  Well, maybe a bit better than that.  Not everyone likes Doritos.  Or Coke.  Maybe it'll be cooler than a Bag of Chips and a Pepsi.  But what if you're into health?  Damn.  Uh, it'll rock more than a Diet Sprite and a bag of baby carrots!

Man I love King's Quest.

Damn Blackthorne for going and being all professional. Makes me look like a rabid dog, when the truth is, I'm nothing more than a little pug.  :D

Geez, lay off, would you?

Fatali is right. If you're going to show up out of the blue as a random newbie, and post a single unprofessional-looking advertising post out of the blue, people are not going to take you seriously. It's a fact of the Internet, and it's something you have to deal with. (shrug)

And if you have fans doing that sort of thing, you might want to tell them to lay off before they stir up problems for you.

I can understand if you don't have time to do substantial PR. In which case you might be better off simply concentrating on your work, and holding off on PR until you're done or almost done. No PR is better than sloppy PR that gives you a bad image.

And I can say that the sort of behavior Rambaldi0503 just showed is definitely going to give you a bad image.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Blackthorne

I'm not professional; I'm just drawn that way.

Um, I wasn't aware myself or someone else from the team did so. As I said, I have no idea who Gwyndion is. I never come here, and as far as I know, nobody else from IA does either. We stick to our own forums and AGDI.

I work in PR for a living, so please don't tell me what good and bad PR is. Also, we've been workign on this game since December, so I think we waited plenty long before announcing it.

Actually, I think in about two days, no one is going to even remember these posts, so honestly, you and the guy with the avatar from FF8, get over yourselves and stop taking things so damn seriously.

Yes, of course Liz, PR is important.  It's REALLY important if you're selling a game.  In fact, nothing is more important when you need to move that shelf space.

Unfortunately, the sum total of my pay for both Quest For Infamy and King's Quest 3 has been a handful of pocket lint, and a string of love letters from Rambaldi's sister.  Useful, but it won't buy me lunch.

Anyway, you can be as professional and take yourself as seriously as you want - but let me ask you this: who is making the game, and who is pontificating??  ;D

For the vocabulary challenged, again: who is making games, and who is twiddling thumbs across a keyboard, commenting on all that they are NOT doing?  Hmmm?  Doo-doo-doot-doo-doo-dee.  Hum-ho....

Now, all witty banter aside, we're making a game.  When it's done, play it if you want.  If you don't want to play it, play Doom 3 and don't bother me.

I would LOVE for fans of old Sierra games to play my games.  But if you're going to b**** without doing anything, I won't take you seriously.  I got off my lazy butt and started making games!!! Anyone can do it.  Also, order the Tony Robbins tapes.  Pure magic.  Not only am I making Sierra games, I remain un-employed but now I've come to terms with that and I'm happy!!!!!

QuoteI have absolutely no idea who this guy is. In fact, I never come here, but someone on our boards alerted us to their thread (so maybe it was them).

Hey, I just needed a break! Do you know how many planks such a pirate ship has?!? I already started to dream of wood textures!! Bah, noone likes me. If someone needs me, I'm back in PSP. :P  ;)

Rambaldi0503

Gwydion, I must say, despite what two members here might say, I think that your PR skills -- despite not working officially for IA -- are excellent. Look how much attention you've garnered for us.

You don't happen to work in PR in real life do you? If you live in the NY area, look me up. I might know of a job opening for your special skills in publis relations.

Well, if it turns out that having your first advertising post on this forum look unprofessional, and dealing with criticism in a rude manner, isn't bad PR, then yeah, I guess I don't know what I'm talking about.

QuoteActually, I think in about two days, no one is going to even remember these posts, so honestly, you and the guy with the avatar from FF8, get over yourselves and stop taking things so damn seriously.

If you don't take yourselves seriously, how to do you expect your fans to take you seriously? Taking yourself seriously doesn't mean having to be stuffy and humorless, it simply means caring about doing a good job. If you don't have the time to do a good job with your PR, then you're better off waiting until you do.

I've actually heard of IA before, and I think your stuff looks interesting. But if you feel the need to come along and act like jerks on this forum, I'm going to feel less inclined to play your games.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Quoteget over yourselves and stop taking things so damn seriously.
Indeed. We will if you will.

No seriously, its now past the point of reason. As of this moment, I refuse to post anything else in this thread. I suggest everyone else do likewise.

Blackthorne, I will definitely not be playing Doom3, but I just might play your game. Good luck.

How many times do I have to repeat myself? I, nor anyone to my knowledge from the IA team, posted that link. Why do you keep blaming us?

And who cares if it was unprofessional? This isn't a profession. This is a hobby, that we take seriously.

There is a difference.

Have you ever betatested our projects? We have a few who have that can attest to the seriousness with which we take our games?

Have you ever visited our web-site? Our forums?

Check them out, and then challenge me on how serious we take IA.

You know why we don't have time to do good PR? We're too busy making a game.

What's your excuse?

Ok. That's your choice. As I said, we're not making these games for YOU.

I am getting really sick and tired of reading posts at AGDI, AGS or our boards where fans who never try to make games make demands on those that do.

You in no position to tell us what to do. We're creating the games. FOR FREE.

I'm sick of people complaining games take to long to release, or that we don't release enough screenshots... what are YOU guys doing? In the waititme, why don't YOU guys make something?

Maybe if you were off creating games, you'd see why we get defensive about our games.

PS
Seriously. Come over to our boards and let's have a nice, professional chat. We will answer any questions about our games. But this forum is not the right place to continue this conversation.

Blackthorne

See, the Doom 3 thing WAS a joke.  I just meant it to insinuate any random average new-bad-FPS shooter.

Okay, okay, all.  Let's all just calm down!!!!!

We all love King's Quest and Sierra games.......

and trust me, I love you!  So just hold on, and I promise a good game.  No need to trade barbs anymore points made.....

I can sum up:

A) Finish what you started.

and

B) We know what we're doing.

We could also say

C) Rambaldi, take your Zoloft.

I'm gonna go pop a Viagra and draw another KQ3 background.

Oh, and trust me - I do take making the game seriously.  But not much else.  ;D

First of all, welcome Rambaldi0503 and Blackthorne!  ;D

Thanks for signing up at our forums and discussing your project (even if the original advertisor isn't related to you ;P).  Fatali's attack was more on the original poster, whom he (and myself) assumed to be either a PR member of your team, or a fan.

We've also had plenty of nay-sayers for our project and I know how frustrating it can be explaining to people outside your team about things that are completely obvious to members inside your team, or even to forum regulars.  The conversation in this thread did get a bit heated, so let's just keep it civil.  8)

Your projects (particularly KQ3+) look very nice and as I said earlier, can be compared to AGDI's work. ;D  Feel free to use our forums to keep us all informed of major announcements regarding your projects!   :)

One - Stop. Breathe. Calm yourselves. Count to ten. ......... Okay, better now? Good! :)

Two - okay, we get it, no one knows who Gwydion is or if he's even on their team or just a fan of theirs. Said and done. If Gwydion would like to clarify that for us, that'd be nice.

Blackthorne, thanks for explaining more calmly than a few other people around. It's good to hear from other game-makers on the free & online variety, and I do honestly hope that your projects go smoothly and successfully! I'd love to see a KQ3/KQ3+ get made and look forward to it. :)

Rambaldi, I'd agree Fatali's first post was a bit... attack-like, but he did later apologize for that. Rambaldi, it'd be appreciated if you could calm down a bit when refuting Fatali or anyone else's points. Jeysie's pretty level-headed as forum-goers go, and I know she wasn't attacking or mocking you, and I think though it came off that way, it wasn't Fatali's intention either.

For all parties involved and anyone listening, please try to stay calm even if 'under attack' around here in the future, okay? Misunderstandings on the internet are fairly easy to come by, but also very easy to avoid or rectify. We don't want flame wars going on here, nor will we tolerate them if they happen. Fatali was looking for more information than Gwydion provided, and to doubt the follow-through of online made games is reasonable; most of them don't make it, and we've had such doubts slinged at us for KQ9, as well. If people are so stubborn as to not believe in you, then just keep on doing what you're doign, make the game, and prove 'em wrong!"Living well is the best revenge," and whatnot.

Oh, and Fatali, the "I'm a llama!" is the default avatar line when you sign up, and I doubt Gwydion, being so new, was aware that it was (a) there or (b) changeable just yet. If you've got a problem with that, talk to Yonkey ;)

Okay, so from me-- Hello and welcome to the KQ9 forums Blackthorne, Rambaldi and Gwydion! I'm Katie, asst. director of writing here, and we're glad to have you posting and to see more Sierra fans remaking and adding to the KQ series online.  ;D Best of luck to you with making your game(s) and I look forard to seeing more on them in the future, they look to be off to a good start. I'm wondering, what's your progress like on KQ3 in particular so far?

Sorry Jeysie? Why are you bringing this up again when Fatali stopped it? You are making things worse when I was glad that this pointless conflict had stopped. We advertised our King's Quest 3 post so we can tell the adventure community that one of the greatest adventure games of all time was getting a revamping. Your first reactions; Well what do you know? We've never heard of Infamous Adventures, and they must have been the 5th people to announce a King's Quest 3 remake! Let's oppose them because they aren't called AGDI.

Listen, we've already recieved great feedback from this project, just this morning I've had an applicant asking if they could help do a 3D intro for Infamous Adventures. This proves what we are capable of achieving, and I want to know why a grown women such as yourself is still opposing us? I haven't got one single thread of doubt about this projects fate, as I've seen what goes on in the private forums, since I work for IA, and believe me, the backgrounds our artists dish out, the almost flawless concept demos our programmers upload, the professional music, makes this projects just seem unbelievable.

So my reccommendations are, stop thinking this project won't be done, because, I'm not just saying it will be done just for the sheer hell of trying to prove you wrong, I'm saying this because I know all three projects will be done. You do know that each project has different people working for them do you? Well then, stop worrying that these projects will conflict with each other, because, well, funny I say this but... THEY WON'T!

Now, if you don't mind I'm printing this speech off and framing it onto my wall hoping to get famous by it one day.

Edit: Reading everything above kinda makes this post look abit pointless now, oh well, I'm still proud!

Rambaldi0503

Well thank you for the warm welcome and I will try to stop by now and again (but to post about KQ9, not our own projects). I hope to see you guys over on our forums in the near future to give us updates as well.

I hate to comment on KQ3's progress, cuz I don't want to mis-state. Programming is very nearly done I believe. I believe. Backgrounds, I've seen drafts of every one, and for the most part, it's mostly Daventy that hasn't been worked on (though i've seen a few paths).

The three bear's is done and looks BEAUTIFUL. Just saw that two days ago.

I'm sure you guys can agree: while I might have been harsh, I think you've probably noticed -- as I had -- the amount of backlash from fans lately. Fans who are growing impatient and forgetting the hard work we're doing for THEM. And a lot of project developers -- such as myself -- are sick of it. Instead of criticizing, I'd rather see them put their effort into making a game. Instead of saying, oh, game projects always fall apart boo hoo hoo... why not make one yourself instead?

Anyhoo, that's that.

Free hotdogs over at IA forums! I'll see ya there!  ;D
