That reminds me... if I make it thru the trial period, am I still a fan? In other words, do I need to let someone else take over, or do I still get to admin. the fansite?

Of course you're still a fan!  I've been to plenty of forums before where the moderators have their own personal websites, and happen to be fansites too. :P
