You could be the Prince of the Graphic Artists... or is that the Graphic Artist Formerly Known as Prince? I keep getting crossed up.

Heh. I guess there's nothing inherently wrong with being an accountant-type. It's just that, usually the people who best appreciate my personality and sense of humor are creative artist-types. And hanging around them always points up what I don't have, namely, any creative talent.

So, you know. They're always creating all this cool unique stuff, like they can write stories, or draw sketches, or compose music, or do choreography, or something. And what "talents" do I have? I'm good at being efficient and organized. Oh, joy. How unique! How exciting! I think I might faint from the sheer happiness of it. :P

Peace & Luv, Liz

Storm

Hey, you should be grateful. I'm no good at any of that creative stuff, AND I'm not efficient or organized either  :P

If efficient means trying to find a way to achive maximum out put with minimum input (from myself) than I'm efficient too. However, I always thought that was due to my inherent lazyness, instead of my efficiency. :D
Although you wouldn't say it when looking at my desk, I'm actually quite organized too. I know (most of the times) exactly in which stack I can find a document. ;D Ofcourse, when someone else '(re-)organizes' my desk, I'm completely lost. I don't faint easily, hyperventilate on the other hand...
BTW, I'm a creative accountant-type. ::) Not with any art-stuff, but sometimes I have to figure out a way to do something that's not an everyday accounting-situation.
PS. My main 'talent' is my logic, and all that derives from it.

Quote from: Jeysie on November 26, 2003, 03:00:01 PMI guess I've just been thinking about it a lot because I'm looking for work. When you're going for a job, you're supposed to convince the boss that you're the best person for the position. Except I never feel like I'm the best person, because my official cred and skills are lacking. So I always feel like I have to lie at every interview, which I hate doing. :P (Well, assuming I actually get any interviews...)
Why do ya think I'm working for the (Flemish) government? Because there was no interview! I just passed an exam, was ranked as 13th, and since the first 12 refused to take the offer, and I did, I got the job. Getting an interview wasn't difficult, trying to convince the person before me was, so I failed that part every time. :-\

This post's sole purpose is to raise my post count to 1300. I hope that will get to the next level...

Nuts, that didn't do the trick. Guess I'll have to wait another 100 posts  :P

Heh. Trust me, I know the feeling. On the rare occasions I actually got an interview, I know I always felt I never did a good job presenting myself to the interviewer. In fact, the only reason I got my most recently left job at all was because I was the only one who actually understood what position they had intended to hire people for, and was willing to work for slightly-above minimum wage, not necessarily because I came off very well in other aspects.

I know I wish I could get a government job. Personally, I'd love a job in the back room of the post office. After years dealing with customers, a job which involves just being in a room somewhere doing one simple project like sorting mail sounds so blissful. Unfortunately, the only mail jobs available right now are for carriers, which I can't do because I don't have my license. :P

Quote from: copycat on November 29, 2003, 03:26:09 PMThere are many jobs in the government where you don't have to deal with customers, just your colleagues is enough.

Heh. Well, it's a matter of... AFAIK, the postal office is the only government agency hiring non-politicians at all where I live. Well, non-political jobs that I'm qualified for, anyway. (For instance I'm not licensed to be a social worker, which seems to be the other common government job in my area, nor do I wish to be.)

Quote from: copycat on November 29, 2003, 03:26:09 PMWhat don't you have a license to/for?

I don't have a driver's license. Unfortunately, walking mail carrier jobs are not very common where I live. Heck, even walking newspaper carrier jobs aren't common where I live.

Don't you remember?  It vanished, along with the rest of site.  ::)

Excuse me? complete rip off?

I fail to see how this could be Yonkey's fault anyways, there is nothing neither of us can do regardless about it since the person who owns those servers is currently unavailable due personal reasons, remember our servers crashed, so we had bigger concerns in mind than getting those posts back. I honestly dont even consider he has that backup from the forum during that time.

Its quite a shame and Im truly sorry, just tell me how many posts you had way back then and problem solved, there is no need to be upset about it when it can be easily fixed. And I am the responsible of my departments so, Yonkey has been doing nothing but his job.

Quote from: KatieHal on December 01, 2003, 09:40:01 AM3 - I highyl recommend getting your driver's license to one and all. Lord, if I couldn't drive...oh man, I would've gone crazy YEARS ago. In my unemployed/living at home periods, driving was my only remaining escape! I would have gone crazy. Totally nuts.

Heh. Well, I know I need my license one day, but I have a few reasons for not getting it yet.

1. No car, and no money to get one. If I had a license right now, I'd never use it because my roomie is never home, and thus his car is never available. The times when he'd be home and I'd be going out without him are few and far between, and if we're both going somewhere, I feel far more comfortable with his driving skill than my own.

2. Driving scares me to death. :P Unlike the stereotypical young person, I've always had a healthy awareness of my own mortality.

3. Somehow, I just don't think a woman who's nearsighted, has poor hearing, is clutzy, has trouble actively thinking about more than one or two things at a time, and has a terrible spacial sense belongs behind the wheel of a car any more often than absolutely necessary. :P Especially not when sharing the road with the freaks that drive in Massachusetts.
