I saw the first episode of Sliders, I really should try watching more of it (though is it true that it was cancelled halfway through or did it jsut die near the end? I can't remember the details).
Well they removed most of the main characters in the last season :-\, they left Maggie and the singer :-\, it just wasnt as good without Quinn :-\, it kinda went of a bit but that doesnt answer your question :-\ :P

That girl that left the series, during the zombie episode, did anyone here think she should have stayed in the series longer?

I didn't like her character, and I thought her character was slightly annoying. :P
It's been too ong since I watched the series so I have no clue who that girl is you're talking about. The only one I still remember by name is Quinn, I also know there was a professor and a girl, but I have no idea who their names were.
I' ve watched every episode of it that was broadcast on the BBC, and they obviously didn't bother acquiring that series because I never saw such an episode (or maybe my mind is blocking it, although I can think of no particular reason why it would do such a thing).

Actually, Maggie wasn't in the first season so she doesn't count as an original character.  And, in the last season, they still had Quinn.  He was just from a different world and played by a different actor, and (according to the plot) had the original Quinn trapped in his body because they slammed into each other while sliding (they were sliding in opposite directions, but in the same vortex). :scholar:

If she wasn't in the first thread, then I might have a faint idea of the character, but that's about it. I also have no recollection about Quinn being trapped in someone else's body.

Louisiana Night

Jeysie's got DSL! !!!

As soon as she gets it working with her PC, let's continue the party in her honor!  :D :P

Louisiana Night

I don't remember that episode. :(

Did the series ever end(as far as the storyline goes), or did it just....end? ???

Jeysie

Technically, my DSL is working, in that I can do general surfing and downloading. But for some reason I can't do some things like e-mail files or post to some forums/webmail things. It's not my firewalls, since I tried turning them off... but I think I have a guess as to what the problem is, I just haven't had time to check yet.

You can't e-mail files or can't e-mail completely?  As for not being able to post in forums or webmail... that has to be a browser issue.  But if you didn't upgrade your browser whatsoever, then the only thing I can suggest is clearing your cookies (perhaps those sites stored your old IP and are using some sort of anti-hacker thing to keep you from accessing that account ???).

Anyway, at least you're able to post here!  Welcome back! ;D

I guess a better question to ask is if anyone here watched the series finale of it?  ;P

E-mail: I can't check or send my AT&T e-mail at all via POP while on DSL. With my alienharmony.com e-mail, I can check messages and send plain text messages fine, but file attachments just won't work. I get a message saying that the connection timed out and was lost.

Web stuff: When I try to access my AT&T mail through webmail, I can view/change folders and messages just fine, but when I try to delete messages it won't work... the browser just times out on the post URL.

And I actually *can't* post on the forums here properly... right now I'm at work, and when I'm at home I have to use dial-up temporarily to post stuff. It's the same problem as the webmail when I'm connected to DSL at home... I hit the post button, and the post URL times out. Yet simply surfing the threads works fine, and I can also do searches.

When I'm dial-up, I can check e-mail and post stuff fine. When I connect with the DSL, that stops working. No changes to my browser have been made. :P

Is your DSL connected to a router?

EDIT:  I'm gonna split all these posts to your thread since we're going off topic.  :P

Jeysie

It is now, although I was having the same problems when the modem was hooked directly to my computer.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Yonkey

That is really messed up.  The fact that you can access certain ports and not others, yet on dial-up everything is fine, makes me think it is a firewall issue.  Either software, hardware, ICS, or some combination.

If you're using a router, check the port forwarding stuff and make sure no ports are being blocked.  If you're using a software one, disable it.  If you're using internet connection sharing... well, I've never used that myself, but you said you tried plugging the modem directly to your computer and it still didn't work, so I'm not sure.

If you've tried everything above and it still doesn't work, contact the ISP's tech support.

Questing Character

The finale of Sliders was like this:
They found the way back to their own world (the one in the first episode, that is, that was taken over by Cro-Mags).  The black guy, who's name I forget, decided he would go ahead and see if it was okay to go into.  After he went through the portal, the show ended.  So we don't know what happened to him or the other people.

Louisiana Night

Sounds like a decent ending. 8)

Shadowfax

Well, that explains a lot doesn't it!  ;)
When cities burn and armies turn,
and flee in disarray,
Cowards will cry 'tis best to fly
and fight another day.
But warriors know it in their marrow when they die and fall,
It is better to have fought and lost than not have fought at all.
