At first glance, this looks like an obvious poll :P, but consider the rammifications.  If they made a sequel to King's Quest, what would happen to our project?  Would they make it a sequel to the series or a sequel to MoE?  Do you think Sierra is even capable of making adventure games anymore?  8)

I'll have to agree with Koko, and go with Laura Bow, that nosey reporter deserves another go at things :) (plus i don't think rosella would get a starring role in the next KQ)

King's Quest=I wouldn't trust them with the series(not due to MoE), and I'd rather have fewer conflicts with fan-based projects(KQ1/2/3/4/9)

Space Quest=Could be done right, but I prefer the fan projects, and also wouldn't want to have conflict with the storyline

Leisure Suit Larry=I don't like the series, and I think the time/resources could be better spent elsewhere(and it's the one that's getting a semi-sequel :P )

Quest for Glory=As far as I'm concerned, it would be the hardest to make right, and it would probably end up being too much of a RPG(in the generic sense)

Police Quest=I know of the game, but have never really played it, and don't care to play it

Gabriel Knight=Since Jane Jensen said she was going to make a game (series?), with similar characteristics, I'd rather read one of her books, and wait for her next game

Laura Bow=for fear of it becoming a Nancy Drew style game, I'd prefer it not be made by sierra

Vote=Police Quest

Reason=Since ALL of these games would have to change, in order to sell, I think Police Quest is the most likely to benefit from having the gameplay made-over.

Jafar

I'm going with Space Quest. Oh, and if Sierra starts making a 9th KQ game, just call your game KQX. :P

uhm Neil, I was kind of under the impression there was no Sierra anymore... But if Vivendi did suddenly wake up in the near future, and thought of making a new adventure, I'd vote for a new Gabriel Knight game any time :)

Definately Laura Bow. I have too many fond (hehe hmmmmm maybe the wrong word for the subject matter :P) memories of the first game and what I played of the second seemed really cool too.

There isn't, really, ALlert, though Vivendi does still own the name & may use it on products it puts out in the future. But no Sierra offices exist any longer.

I'd want a new Gabriel Knight game. No one's making a cool-lookign sequel, official or no, for that yet. And I'd want our KQ9 to stand out, and I know the progress thus far on SQ7 and Hero6 are looking good. :)

Ive never played Laura Bow, though I'd love to, so I can't really say there.

Whenever I say Sierra, I mean Sierra/Vivendi. :P  I just can't mentally associate Vivendi with adventure games, so I left it as Sierra.  And as Katie said, the Sierra trademark is still out there, it's just owned by Vivendi. :P

I think I'll pick Gabriel Knight.  I never played any of them, but I heard such good things about it that I wouldn't mind playing an up to date version.  8)

I was divided between Gabriel Knight and Laura Bow...I enjoyed both of them.

To something said in this post, Jane's new game, Grey Matter has been indefinitely postponed due to financial considerations; however, she recently worked on Inspector Parker's Be Trapped.

It's really cool...I wrote her an email once, and she responded.

:(

!!!

*looks up info on the game*

I couldn't find any information on it. :(

I still think Police Quest would make the best Sierra-made sequel. :)

As much as I looove Police Quest, I still think that Space Quest is my favourite...

Thanks. :)

If it was on the list, I would have said a Longbow sequel, because I'd like the possibility of a decent sequel. :P

OK... since none of the guys will step up to the plate.  I voted for "Leisure Suit Larry"  And I don't mean that crap they're making with his cousin Lenny or whoever he's supposed to be. (which comes out tomorrow by the way 10/05). I'm talking about a REAL adventure game. LSL5 was the first game I bought with my own, hard-earned cash.  Unlike most "funny" games, I think they were actually pretty tough.  I miss Larry. I'm so lonely. (god i'm pathetic) :(

QuoteWould they make it a sequel to the series or a sequel to MoE?

Given the amount of time that has passed between the release of MOE and today, I'm tempted to say neither. People in general are very reluctant to play sequels without having played the originals. In order for a new KQ-game to be commercially viable, the audience shouldn't just include those people who played the original series, even with the inclusion of MOE. Even re-releasing the older games in the series wouldn't do because not everyone will be willing to play through a bunch of very old games before playing the latest game. So a direct sequel to any game is out of the question by now...it would deter too many potential buyers.

QuoteDo you think Sierra is even capable of making adventure games anymore?

Why not? They certainly have the resources for it. The more significant question would be...are they willing to spend those resources on the creation of an adventure game by our standards? Those of you who've read AGD1's E3 article probably read about her discussion with VU. They mentioned that for the bigger companies who need multi-million bucks per project to even break even, adventures are a very unattractive genre, commercially.

QuoteIf they made a sequel to King's Quest, what would happen to our project?

If VU thinks KQIX is infringing on their trademarks (not necessarily related to the existence of their own KQ-project), they'll take action. I'm positive most people will be able to figure out what would happen on their own.

Personally, I'd love to see QFG revived and preferably with involvement of the Coles. I'm not such a rabid purist who thinks only the Coles would be able to create a good game. I just think the QFG world, as portrayed in the series, is only a fraction of what Lori and Corey initially wrote about it and I'd love to see more.

Storm

'None of the above' :P

If Vivendi does release a sequel to one of them under the Sierra title, it would most likely not be an adventure. In that case I'd rather not have a sequel at all :(
If, by some miracle, they do make it an adventure, I'd rather they make a Gabriel Knight sequel, and not step on any fangame makers toes :-\
