The friggin' Boogeyman was the only truly frightening KQ character in any game. Ooga Booga was a kinda happy-go-lucky place, a little eerie and creepy, but nothing spooky when I first played it (around 9 or 10 years old) until "it" popped up. Man...eveyrthing, every single thing about him was scary. The music, the visuals, the type of death, his VOICE, everything. Man...scary stuff. Considering I'm nearly 10 years older now, I'd like to see even more frightening characters in KQ9, however.
"And still we all are so hopeful,
So righteous in our blood.
It looks so tarnished in our eyes,
Yet so afraid of...

Fading into nothing,
Fading into nothing.
Just a trace of light
That burns within our thoughts... "

I'll drink to that!  8)

(mind you; there are limits for these people to keep it suitable for a medium sized, relatively diverse KQ fanbase, so they cannot be too brutal... mind you, I would like to see a few "shocks," I am terrible with those and it would be nice to see if I can be frightened by a PC game for once!)
When cities burn and armies turn,
and flee in disarray,
Cowards will cry 'tis best to fly
and fight another day.
But warriors know it in their marrow when they die and fall,
It is better to have fought and lost than not have fought at all.

Well, I don't know about being frightened, but prepare to be shocked... :suffer:

The Boogieman annoyed me a lot but I never remember being frightened by it.  Now the wolf in the original KQ1 when I was quite young would suddenly pop out of nowhere and the three sounds of my PCjr really shocked me and got the blood flowing.   :o  :suffer:

Dude! The Lord of the Dead was the creepiest by far! I remember playing that game when I was an impressionable 14 year old...of course... :)

Lol. Exactly!  When Graham wanders off and dies on his own, it's usually silly.

But when Lords of the Underworld get involved...look out!

Welcome LondonBroiler!  ;D

The Lord of the Dead was pretty creepy, but since he looked chained to the throne, he didn't seem that bad.  :)

He never touched you, did he.
That was seriously freaky and you also get a different style of death message.

I think he did, but it didn't take long to figure out to use the mirror on him. ;P

Yikes!!
Alex's body crumbling as his ghost escapes it, and the death message with Alex as a skeleton... that has to be one of the creepiest death scenes in KQ :o

Sweet! Thanks Yonkey.

You know...I'm so thrilled about this whole KQ9 endeavor.  I told my mom about it last night and she reminded me of the days and weeks I spent playing the first 6.  Lol.  As if I could forget.
