The more I hear about these incedents, the more I understand why it's better to have a small, dedicated team (like in Tierra) :-/

I mean, it doesn't matter how talented a person is if they quit in the middle and take their work with them, or worse - go around telling everybody secret stuff from the project ):c

If only we could have online lie detectors... then we could tell who is a traitor to the team (or the, since he seems to be coming back over and over). But doesn't that make it kinda tricky for honest people who want to get on the team? if there's only one/two dishonest people to screw things up and a bunch of honest people hoping to help out, it's that much harder for the honest people to get on the team.

BTW, isn't there some way to track IP addresses? I mean, if he tries again and uses a computer that's either near his home (like a computer cafe) or in his home, then you can at least locate vaguely where he is and watch out for any other IPs in that area.

though, bushies ideas sounds a bit more reasonable (as to keeping cesar ;D ) I think somehow we are about to achieve that point eventually (IP stuff), I mean since that kind of situations happened they decided to go safer so now if people want to get in they do have a lot of "online business relationship" meaning agreement terms, full info display about the person, personal kq email and all that, which is good enough I believe to keep track of people on the team.

Still, even if you know the guy's IP you can't prevent him from going around and giving away the game's secrets :(

The only way to avoid that is to really know the people you're hiring and make it clear to them that they have no copyright over the work they submit (and can't ask you not to use it if they leave) :-/

Another (partial) solution is the keep the project heavily segmented, and give info on need-to-know basis - you don't have to know the plot to color the backgrounds etc. :-X

That should minimize the damage if someone does decide to go on publishing "his part" of the project :o :o :o

Say

well storm, first of all how can you possible know anyone who apply the team in just a week during she/he might apply?
its an -impossible- thing to do to -know- for good this person as to admit or to know some possible way to know wheter to trust her/him or not, its really hard to do if you guys want the game ever released I think. :-/

and that other part is been taken care of, the guys have already taken caution measures about it.
thats kinda how it works, the WHOLE things are not constantly exposed to everyone.

Save your money, knight...

You could always nag C'sar for info, or wait for Say to let something slip ;D

(I do that all the time ::) )

The problem is, I never pick up on the hints that have happened because someone (who couild that be? ;)  ) has slipped up!  Sometimes I wonder how nieve I really am!  But I'll just keep my eyes open!

Storms right, we need a torture connor button!  Reminds me of a game I had on my old comp, it was a kill Sadam game, Sadam would come accross the screen, and you'd click on him to kill him (he'd just walk, sometimes stop and mumble, and somethimes with a shopping cat of wearpons).  Anvils would fall on him, and missles galore.  you could even put the game on auto pilot!

Anyway, sorry if this has been asked, I havent read every word in this topic, but are any game sequences actually put together yet?  or is it just progressing section by section, rather than a whole?  (what i mean is, are the artists and programers and what not all doing their own thing, or are you all working together yet?)
Toaster + Tongue = Pain

Rick_Florez

Currently we're awaiting the final reworked engine before starting the official game scripting.  The engine is being modfied to be more globally usable for the game and to make the code more efficient.  The design, story and 3d teams are using this time to finalize the material needed to put together the first part of the game.  In other words continue with designs, model and texturing so that as soon as the engine is ready we'll put all the elements together.

Hey, the "torture Connor" button was The Knight's idea... I'm just an avid supporter ::)

Well, my mistake! At elast we have another member in the official "We hate connor" club!

I should be named the WHEAM - "We Hate Everything About MOE" club :D

koko_99_2001

I'll join that club!!!  Well, the graphics were pretty good, but as I said earlier, I don't like the killing...but as it's also been said earlier, that KQ9 won't be anything like MOE.  Glad that we have people who know what the public likes!!!  Thanks you guys!

Oldbushie

MOE was a decent game in itself, but it just doesn't belong in the King's Quest series. I only hate MOE because it almost ruined a perfectly good adventure series; I think Sierra should have "tested" their idea of 3d gaming on a new, independent game.

And in MOE, there aren't any people from previous games that you interact with, although a few of them are statues...
