Louisiana Night

When I was 5/6 years old, I accidently called 911. I hung up when I heard somone's voice, and then they called back. My parents had a talk with me, needless to say.

A police man saw me down the street from my house one day (my mum was watching me), and this cop pulled his car up and started stressing at me :-\, my mum called the police department and stressed at him, lol :suffer:

I was about 9 or 10 at the time of that incident ;D

The emergency number from a fixed (as in, confined to one place) line is 100, from a mobile phone it's 112 too. There's no general non-emergency number. Actually, I think 1000 is for the fire department, 101 is for the police and 102 is for the ambulance, but when you just dial 100 they can put you through to the other ones too. 100 does a bit of coordination as well. On mobile I only know about the 112, no seperate numbers for police and/or ambulances. AFAIK I never called 100 (IIRC, it was 900 when I was a kid, but then they changed it to 100). ;)

112 is the international emergency line for mobiles (I think). Don't have to put in your SIM number in order to dial  ;)

EDIT: This is so OFF-TOPIC  :o, but who cares  :D

I think overhere you still need a SIM-card, but you don't need to have any credit on it. You can also use anyone's network to transmit the emergency, it doesn't need to be your provider's. 8)

Nope.....U don't need a SIM Card (just tried it then) as long as u have a phone, a battery and have figured how to turn it on.....then you can dial straight away.

BTW.....What's the title of this thread? ;P    ;P

I just tried it too, and indeed there's a button on which I can push to dial 'SOS'.

OMG, though they were just for James Bond  8). Not like he will need it  ;). Where is the button anyway? Since if it were in your pocket, it could get accidently pressed and dial SOS!  :o

That is my cellphone. No if you look closely, you'll see a button below the left bottom corner of the screen, that's the button I have to push when there's no SIM-card and I want to dial for help.

Usually there's a SIM-card present in the cell-phone, and I also disable the buttons before I put it into a pocket. 8)

GSM = Global System for Mobiles  :P

QuoteGlobal System for Mobile Communications. Usually refers to the European standard GSM operating on 900 MHz and 1800 MHz bands, but in North America refers to the 1900 MHz band.
Need the link where I found that? 8)
