Their called "Mobile Phones" here in Australia  :P

Here too!

I'm a proper mobile geek although I still don't have a 3G phone yet with video calling and all that :( I'll give it a few more months untill they release a contract that's less than £30/month...

They're called "Cell Phones" by the majority of people here, but I've heard them being called "Mobile Phones" in commercials and by sales people before. :P

Mobile phones, in my book, are phones that aren't fixed, therefor also fixed phones with a wireless mic/speaker. To me it doesn't matter it's got a limited range, it's very mobile within that range. In essence, that kind of phone just has one cell, whereas the cell phone has many more. 8)

AFAIK, Wap is not necessarily GPRS, the 2nd generation phones also have Wap. 8)
I was wondering what you could access with GPRS without any credit.

I always thought Wap was slow internet (dialup) while GPRS was fast (broadband) internet for phones....

Wap is carrier independant:
first you had CSD (Circuit Switched date': 9.6 kbps
Then you've got GPRS (General Packet Radio Service): 177.2 kbps theoretical, 35 kbps actual.
And the next generation is UMTS (Universal Mobile Telephony System): up to 2 Mbps.
WAP itself remains, but the version changes to accomodate for the new carrier-speeds.
