Okay, i got my new PC for christmas  :). My plans are to setup the network like so...

Phone line -> My PC -> family PC

I've currently got my PC hooked up to the internet. I ran the network connection wizard yesterday on both PC's. They both seemed alright (no error's in setup). Both are sending packet's to and from each other. I then tried looking up the family PC on my computer.....nothing. Then I tried it the other way around....still nothing. The family PC can't access the internet through my PC either.

I'm very new to networking, this being the first network i have setup. So..

:S Has anyone have a solution? Need any more info, just ask.
:help:

Thanx in advance  :)

How is your PC connected to the family PC (i.e. hub or direct connection)?  Are they both in the same Workgroup?

Yep, direct connection through a CAT5 network cable. Same workgroup "MSHOME"
Both computers have onboard network and WindowsXP.

Hmm... I've only seen networks made using hubs or routers.  But I know it is possible to do it directly with an ethernet cable.  One thing to make sure is that the cable is a crossover cable and not a patch cable.

You can check this site for more information. :)

I made sure I had a crossover cable. We call patch cables straight cables over here. I'm not sure why though...

I found what I needed  :D

Ok, my network still isnt running. The computers can't see each other  :-\....nor can they share the internet.
