KQ9 Relations to KQ8

Hi I am new here, this is my first post... I love Kings Quest, along with all of Sierra's old Quest series.  I really don't know if this has been discussed before but I was wandering if anyone could tell me how vital it is to play KQ8 to understand what is going on in KQ9.  I am sure, you can probably play KQ9 and understand it fine without playing KQ8 but I was just wondering if there would be like references that I should know about or anything.

KQ8 was horrible.  I am sorry.  It just sucked... really bad.  I know a lot of people complained about number 7 being too "Disney" but I thought it was still pretty fun.  I never beat KQ8, I didn't get very far.  KQ8 and KQ3 were the only KQ's I didn't beat.  Number 3 was pretty hard for me and would never work on my updated computers.  Hopefully AGD does a remake of it.

Just to ramble on more if you are still reading... KQ4 was the first Adventure Game I really ever played.  My dad used to play it with me and read the text to me aloud when I was a kid [I was like 3 or 4].  As gay as that might sound its true.  I remember having to go through the copy protection every time and finding the 5th word on the third paragraph on the fourth page.

I doubt you will need to have completed MoE to understand KQ9 ;)

Connor gets awarded for saving the land of Daventry, but as far as I know thats the only links between MoE and KQ9 ;) :D

BTW Welcome to KQIX Forum, hope to see you posting often :D

Welcome soave!  ;D

You don't need to play MoE or even any of the previous KQ games to understand what's going on in KQ9.  While this game is a sequel to the series, it also works well as a standalone game since the first few chapters give you a good understanding of what happened in the past. :)

Don't worry Kimmie, you are not alone! (I mucked about with MoE on a friends computer, I found it quite enjoyable actually but when taken into comparison with other KQ's - such as KQ VI - then the flaws are pretty obvious!)

Still, glad to know that KQ IX will allow all us non-superdedicatedwillselltheirsoultothedevilforthenextinstallmentoftheKQgenre to keep up! (I myself have played but two of the KQ games, KQ VI/MoE, interesting contrast in styles!)
When cities burn and armies turn,
and flee in disarray,
Cowards will cry 'tis best to fly
and fight another day.
But warriors know it in their marrow when they die and fall,
It is better to have fought and lost than not have fought at all.

I dunno if this is against the rules or not.  But www.infamous-adventures.com is remaking KQ3  :gossip:

It's not against the rules, but it is off topic. :P  Here is the official thread to talk about the KQ3 remake.  :)
