My favorite is The Horse and His Boy. ;)

Who's anyone excited about The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe movie coming out this December?

Can't wait for the movie! Whoo hoo!

Of course, I had forgotten about it until just now...but I also had forgotten the first draft of my clinic report was due today so I don't think that means anything ::)

I can't wait for the movie!

Its nice to see they're taking their time with it too, the longer the better in my opinion. Still though, nothing will ever top the BBC films of Narnia released in the 80s/90s :)

I think my favourite is the Voyage of the Dawn Treader, has so much coolness in it. I want a pet Monopod!

I agree! I loved the BBC films. Voyage was my favorite too. :P I hated that they didn't make all of the books into movies. It's been a while since I've seen them so I didn't get all the connections from the books until I read a timeline a few months back. I'll admit, I haven't read the books  ;] but I probably should make that commitment to do so over the summer before I get so busy that I won't have the time.

My mother read all the books aloud to us kids when I was younger, and we all read them ourselves, and we owned the BBC movies and watched them soooo many times. I also can't WAIT for the new movies! :D

I found "The Horse and His Boy" the most fun to read, as well. ;) I dunno, it was just... good. :) It didn't progress the big story as much as the other ones did, it was like a side story written for it's own sake and not for the sake of the Chronicles per say. I loved all the books, though. My favorite series when I was a kid. **reminiscing**

While I found the BBC movies good, I didn't like their animation. In the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, they had two-dimensional creatures, and the interaction with them (like in the battle at the Ford of Baruna) was sooo fake.
Other than that, I agree that BBC did a good job with them, ecspecially the theme song. :D

My favorite BBC movie has got to be the Silver Chair. Now that was a cool movie, and scary too when I saw it (hey, I was a little kid). Anyway my favorite book is the Magician's Nephew.

I agree. My favorite of those movies was the Silver Chair (not that I saw them all... ::))

My favorite is "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader", though I never read "The Horse and his Boy".
My least favorite was "The Last Battle" - too depressing :(

I liked the BBC movies, but I agree about the special effects being lame :-\ I remember watching them and thinking they should have waited till they could afford better effects - it was evident that they made some comprimises, and some scenes were altered simply because they couldn't technically show them as they were originally written :(
Kind of made me wish they'd done the series as pure animation instead (The animated version of "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" wasn't too bad).

As for the new movie - the production staff looks pretty promising (and I'm relieved the white witch won't be played by Nicole Kidman, as suggested on another thread *shudder*), but still there's the whole thing about turning a book into a movie, which can be done very badly, or simply 'not feel right' to people who read the books first  :-\
So... I'll give it a shot once it's out, but I can't say I'm excited about it ::)

RIDance

I can't believe Narnia came up in here, that's sweet.

Hands down, Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Probably because that was my favorite movie... there's so much going on and lots of different characters; very entertaining and fun.

And I agree, I didn't like the Last Battle at all. I had a hard time getting through that; I barely finished it and then never read it again. The first book is weird too.. probably because C.S. Lewis wrote it after the Lion, Witch & Wardrobe and the next few. I liked the animated version of LW&W when I was little, but I think it's really creepy now.

Anyway, I'm excited for the movie too! Although I kind of forgot about it because the 6th Harry Potter book and 4th movie (which was my favorite book) are coming out soon. I'm a die hard HP fan... about the same as KQ. Man, I really sound like a dork. ;)

This was a really hard decision for me, but I have to say the Magician's Nephew.  I loved the BBC shows ever since I was a kid, but I shiver ever time I see the books listed in the order that they are listed on this poll.  The author wrote Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe first, and I think thats how it should be read.  They were written  and released in the order that they were for a reason, and I think that author's intent is more important than chronological  order. I think reading the Magician's Nephew first spoils alot about the real first book nad gives information that the reader should not know yet.  In the Macician's Nephew, it explains the origins of Narnia and the White Witch, and I think that these things should be left up to the reader's imagination during the first reading of The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.  I think that half the fun is taken away whenever you know all about the creation of this world before even reading the start of the main kid's adventures.

Oh gosh. When I read these books I had to be like 9 or 10. Hehe, I can barely remember them now. I DO remember, however, the last few books simply because Prince Caspian is cool.  8) I have to say the Voyage of the Dawn Treader was my favorite. I'm going to have to read these again. I first read them in the collection where the Magician's Nephew came first and so on. I'm not sure if it spoiled anything for me. In fact, I think I remember that one better than the Caspian ones.  :-\

I perfer to read the Narnia books in chronological order, as it makes more sense that way.

While The Last Battle IS depressing, it has a happy ending. While it is not my favorite, I love it along with all the other books in the series. :)
