Petra Rocks

QuoteI don't think it's Granite.  It's not shiny enough

Some parts at the top look shiney.  But you are probably right, I live in the flat Midwest and have never seen a piece of rock bigger than a melon except when we vacationed in Maine one year, so I'm no rock expert.  Some random construction rock then.   :P

Shades2585

Some of that looks like clay...CC that's not part of your yard is it? :-\

Hmmm.. What parts of it look like clay to you?  Clay I do know and I'm missing it.  :-\

I agree with Petra Rocks. My entire backyard is practically clay. XD

The clay I’ve seen comes in all kinds of colors. Georgia has red Florida has gray and I’ve seen multicolored clay as well as clay with pockets of sand in it. It could be stone too but there are a lot of clean flat surfaces which you wouldn’t normally find naturally unless this is from a quarry.  ??? Interesting pic.

I see what you are saying.  Some of those lighter colored ones are like no clay I've ever seen, but the more earth colored ones could be I suppose.

Distance? That photograph wasn't taken from that far away, you know. ;)

You mean the brown/orange thing? Yes there is, but what does that tell you?

Quarry? Not exactly, even though it's the result of some heavy construction going on. :scholar:

Looks more like wet sand to me.

Far enough away it isn't easy to tell what it is.  That's the point of this little exercise I assume.   :scholar:

QuoteQuarry? Not exactly, even though it's the result of some heavy construction going on.

I'd guessed that, thus the concrete.   ;)  But I dunno, I guess I stick by my story of some rock used for construction.   8)

Strange, I remember replying to this there already is a picture of my refuse pile a lot sooner in this thread , and I can't think if any reason why such a post would be moved from my thread to another one. :-\

And there's even more missing, I also remember replying to Petra's post

It most definitely is not wet sand. But it's not copper either.

When I took the picture the heavy construction had completely ended, and it's not a refuse pile either, as you can see in my reply to Shades. :scholar:

New pics? Nah, just an explanation to my little quiz-question.
Since so many heavy construction vehicles had ridden over the ground at the back, it was seriously compacted and not suitable to sow anything on (certainly not grass). So, it had to be loosened up (a bit/a lot).
On the picture you see the result of the first phase of 'loosening it up'. The ground has been 'torn' into small chunks, which is what you see. No rock/granite, or anything. If you picked it up, you could easily reduce it into normal (loose) ground.
So, after that stage, more stages followed, reducing the size of the ground chunks even further, until it was suited (small enough) to grow grass on, and the result is what you see in the grass-growing pictures. 8)

New pics!
I can't decide between these 2 pictures. Both have its charm. One's with the main light on, the other one without.
Which do you prefer?

Without main light

With main light.

And I think you haven't seen heating setup that's upstairs in the attic either so here it is:

At the left, you see where the hot water's stored that's coming from the solar panels on my roof. More to the right you see the device that's a) meant to heat the water to heat my house b) heat the water if the water coming from the solar panels is not warm enough. b) takes precedence over a) any time.
More pics coming soon, some with another quiz even!  8)

Other side of the office room, where all of my Programs/Games/CD/DVD(-boxes), books are stacked.
Is that a Diablo box I see?

Shades2585

I agree with Tess I like the dark one best.

Solar? COOL! I wish I could afford to do that.

You have good eyes. There's definitely a Diablo-box there. 8)
BTW, I was leaning towards the dark(er) one too, the other one's just too light.

:D I love Diablo. At least, the second one, as I've never really played the first one.

The house looks really good! It was interesting to see the steps of a house being built.

I love the tree. :D Especially the darker version. :)
