I think this was already discussed somewhere . He probably will make an appearance, but you probably won't "own" him. It would lead to too many "Why couldn't the genie...?" questions.

But you have to admit, that if we had him as a character, the mints would be an interaction, and the screen would get all blurred! A fun new Mini-game!

That would be great: the screen gets blurry and starts swaying, audio/sound is drawled and slower than usual, then you just see the screen blurr really quickely as Shamir falls and passes out

No, I mean you get to play the game like that! Like you acciddentally eat one, and then for about ten minutes of real time, the screen is like that! But if you have an overdose, then that happens!

What if your playing as Alexander?  I'm pretty sure that you should be able to use him, but there could be limitations to what you use him for  .

*Shamir gets totally schmammerd and ends up dancing in ladies underpants on the nearest table with a lampshade on his head glomping Alexander with very slurred "I Love you man!" 's.*

*Shamir then proceeds to regurgitate the contents of his stomach on our beloved prince, who can no longer continue his quest due to washing machines not being invented and the artists being lazy and not drawing out the rest of the game with Alex covered in vomit and lack of doing so would ruin the continuity so they just made it a crappy death scene instead*

Indeed. According the to the Guidebook To The Land Of The Green Isles, "it cannot cure ills, change the weather, or bring back the dead. And a genie always has a weakness."
