What do you think of the new music tracks?
So far I've only listened to Graham's theme, so I guess it's my favorite by default. :P
I really liked it. It suits him.

And who knows what else?

with the exception that Graham's theme is NOT one of the new music tracks ;p

And it's not going to be used either. We have a whole new track for him :D

The tracks are INCREDIBLE. Evocative, well-composed, with high-quality sampling.

The first track (A Kingless Castle) has some great dynamic leves within the cello part. Awesome piece. It warrants even more reverb to magnify the scope of it.

Austin's solo piano piece is incredible. Wow.

The Journey of Eternities is an obvious hit. Great theme - subtle and powerful.

Nick Roland's piece (Shadows) has a very interesting development to it's climax. A great structure in general.

I hope everybody on the team as well as the fans realizes how good this music is. As a composer myself, I know how much work is involved. Kudos to the music department for sharing their talents with all of us.

So you're not using any of the old themes, or just Graham's? Don't get me wrong, but that would mean a great relief, since I have never liked the themes very much. They were all right and they may have suited the game you expected, seeing the old screenshots. But having in mind the overwhelming new screenshots, the themes wouldn't have the done them justice.

Now the new tracks I simply love. They have a depth and a mystery to them, creating a mighty athmosphere. "Aprophecy of his own is a masterpiece, soft and yet wicked, tender but tense. brilliant, definately my favourite.

"Lost the battle, win the war" is very beautiful too. Very dramatic, very classical, I would almost say very classic Hollywood. Also LOVE the flute in the middle of "A Kingless castle".

The one thing I am still missing, is an evil villain's theme, something dark, something menacing and disturbing, something that would make me shirver on a summer day.

Keep up the work, I am more impressed with your work, than ever! All my best wishes.

In a word, inspirational. After listening to the 6 tracks on repeat for the good part of two hours I then spent a further 2 hours working on a piece of mine which had hit a dead end.

They're just superb, and I know they're going to do the game complete justice. I'll write more when I'm at home as there IS so much to write about them but alas, back to making music from kettles boiling I go.

I've listened to the new songs now. Wow. I agree with Alex, inspirational. I really don't know what to say with all this and the other updates. But it's completely amazing. My favorite...probably Valanice Falls. There's so much mystery behind that title and behind her history, that I think that threw it to my favorite.

I love these themes, even back when they were still work in progress, they were still amazing!

Great work Austin & Nick! :)

Thank you everyone for your comments. As far as dark theme there is one :). It's more like smart dark ;). It's not pure evil but evil with a touch of something else. I can't reveal anything more than that. Thank you all for your time and nice comments! I'm sure Nick is happy too that you liked the "Valanice Fall" track. It makes me happy for you guys to be happy!

Hey guys, all the music is amazing! It really sounds just awesome. My favorite would have to be the KQ9 main theme.

I do have a couple critiques though. First of all, I really hope a middle eastern flair is added to some of the tracks for the Land of the Green Isles. While I realize the soundtrack is more character based, the Land of the Green Isles (especially the Isle of the Crown) had a very unique, middle eastern personality that shown through the music in KQ6 and I think it would be a shame to lose that.

Also, are there going to be actual instruments for the solos? The reason I ask is because while the other music sounds really good and realistic, the cello solo sounds really fake to me. Really good composition, but I don't think a solo of that nature could be duplicated well by a computer.

Sorry if I'm being overly critical, the soundtrack from what I've heard is truly awesome.

Cez

Ok, let me talk a little about the tracks I decided to collect.

In Shadows, there are 4 key themes: The Main Theme (Which you can hear in "Journeys of Eternities" and "Shadows") Valanice's Theme (Which you can hear in "Valanice Falls"), Shadracks/Prophecy theme (Which you can hear in "A Prophecy of his Own") and the Love Theme (Which you can hear in "Lost the Battle, Win the War"). I additionally decided to add "A Kingless Castle" which features Alexander's Theme, which you can also hear in the old themes posted a long while ago in its piano version.

A Kingless Castle has some of that "Arabian flavor" in it. However, these are all themes based on characters or plot elements. With the exception of "A Kingless Castle" which adopts some of the Isle of Crown arabian tendencies, they are, like Liam said, based not on locations, but on other things.

Yes, there will be backgrounds tracks that have more of each land's flavor in them.

And, also, all these tracks are being remixed in Greece. So, while I can't promise we'll have real instruments in all of them, there are plans for things like a live chorus. But we'll see what time allows us to do.

:)

Really enjoying the music. Maybe my favorite thing released yesterday. ;) The thing that often make a movie or game *live* in my memory is the music, I love soundtracks. It's like taking the movie/game/whatever with you so you can remember and imagine it during everyday life. I wear my MP3 player everyday. ;P And these tracks are like that, very moving and memorable. Can't wait to put the scenes/events together with them! Until then, I've still got my trusty imagination. ;)

About the middle-eastern influence, I agree about that kind of music being great and adding atmosphere, but I DO definitely hear influences of it in the later parts of "A Kingless Castle."

I thought that "A Kingless Castle" had quite a nice middle eastern theme going on in it. And I was actually quite impressed with the little realisms added to the cello solo too, so I guess its horses for courses hehe.

I think I have two join favourites at the moment, Valanice Falls and A Prophecy of His Own. They both have such a wide range of emotions flowing through them, its a pleasure to listen to them over and over again. This i find especially true in Valanice Falls where there's that gorgeous entrance from the oboe ( ? ), it just conjuers so many images in my head! But then on the other hand I love the way the piano flows in a Prophecy of His Own. It starts off sounding like you know where ot'll end up but suddenly has a little twist and then finds itself in a quite different place.

Hahaha agh i could write all night about these pieces but I won't. i'll just say (again ;p) im so happy to hear how the music is developing and can't wait to hear some more.
