Don't forget to say why you picked your choice. ;D

Personally, I've never played a Myst game so I don't really care. ;D

I picked glad because it might be an interesting way to view the game. We could get closer to teh world of DAventry and such. So long as there is plenty of chjaracter interaction :)

I voted for furious, but then again, I'm a myst-style-games hater :)

I, like César, voted for furious. I base this on the fact that a myst-style approach to King's Quest would be in contrast to the series legacy as well as I don't think that style would represent the game very well. Not that I have anything against Myst, I just wouldn't like a myst King's Quest game.

I also said furious. I haven't played a Myst game, but I have a couple friends who have and didn't like the games at all.

I think the prob with Myst was mostly the lack of character interaction. Alot of ppl didn't like that, for me I didn't mind too much it was interesting wondering what had happened to all the people. Riven was a bit better but not by much I think. At least it seemed more realistic I mean look at the Stoneship and Mechanical ages, where was everyone's houses?? Where did the people live?

I suppose the best thing is perhaps to stick with the already established style of KQ games :)

I personally wouldn't care for it too much(mainly for the reason Shard mentioned, little/no character interaction). That, and there are enough Myst-clones as it is. :P

Although... if this poll meant/included Uru-style(which I'm sure it doesn't), I think it could be fun. XD

and for those that have no idea what I'm talking about... Uru: Ages Beyond Myst

I'd be furious because Myst scares me. I can get lost in an open field in that game! Plus, it's confusing, illogical, and IMHO annoying. It's kind of like trying the logic cliffs without a manual, except it's the whole game.

It's funny how you find you enjoy your life when you're happy to be alive.

Elessar

I'd be a bit upset as it would ruin the style. I LOVE the Myst games, but it would be a change like MoE was, although not to that extreme, and not nearly so bad.

A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be blade that was broken

Furious, definitely.

Whenever I mention "Adventure Games" to any of my generation they immediately say "oh, you mean Myst."

Then I have to be like, "No, a plotless, musicless, jokeless, characterless game like Myst is not the ultimate definition of 'Adventure Game'"

...Drives me crazy.  :P

I don't debate, I ramble with STYLE!

BillyHtchcoc

I'd be upset, but not too.

The problem with Myst games is the isolation.

That and the fact that the original Myst had no real ending to it (It drove me nuts, I like some sort of closure people!)

Also, you do have to admit that at least Myst has people knowing that there even IS a genre known as "Adventure Games"  I've found that so few of the people I talk to IRL nowadays really remember Adventure games at all.

It's almost depressing hearing people talking about how no one plays point and click adventure games. At least we have Adventure Company and fan made adventure games. :)

This was rather a hard choice for me cause I really like Myst.

I suppose I wouldn't be furious just really really disappointed. The reason for that is that Myst is Myst and King's Quest is completely different.

1st person view lends itself to certain types of storytelling.  KQ has always been about the characters.  You get to play them; not yourself.  In 1st person you always feel like its well, you...and you lose the sort of novel feel about it; like you are playing a story instead of playing a character in a story.

In short, egh. lol

Shard

Nothing wrong with Liking Myst, I thought the atmosphere was fun at the time and it did have some good puzzles but you do have an excellent point. KQ is KQ because of third person view of the game, your watching the charactyer interact with the world and its a bit hard to do that in first person view. So I guess this poll is a good indication to stay in the way its always been for KQ.

I agree with everyone else, the problem with Myst is the isolation. I miss the character interaction; I was well, lonely when I played the game. King's Quest should be like KQ6 or KQ7. I liked KQ7 a lot before I played KQ6. KQ6 is excellent more intriguing than 7. I would be slightly upset, perhaps it would be interesting, like a nonviolent version of MOE. Then again, MOE sucks.
