What about Marion Zimmer Bradley's "Mists of Avalon'?
I love that book, even though it is from a pagan point of view and sort of paints the Christians as the bad guys. I like strong female characters as well, I guess you're not into damsels in distress, Shadowfax. What do you think of Rosella? She's my favorite becasue she's a lot like me. She grew up sheltered and a bit spoiled, she yearns for adventure and wants to have fun. She can be childish.
She's into fashion and glamour.

The world's cutest, sweetest dragon princess

Rosella

*decides to answer question not directed at her :P* What could I possibly think of Rosella? ::) I think she has a naive, headstrong, and rather mischeivious personality. And that really helps me relate to her. She's one of my favorite alter egos. XD
I'm a princess even if my kingdom is pixelated.

It's funny how you find you enjoy your life when you're happy to be alive.

Some points of that description of Rosella resembles me   :)

I grew up a bit sheltered and poorly spoiled and yearn for adventure that bring honor, glory and/or some fun  ;D

Rosella's my favorite too. In addition to being quite pretty (not  that looks have much to do with it, but she wouldn't really seem like a princess without them) she's also headstrong, slightly impetouous, funny, and smart. I can relate to some of those qualities. She should be more serious though. She is heir to the throne and therefore cannot afford to dally like this *is reminded of KQ7, when Valenice reprimands Rosella for exactly that*. Putting herself into danger  would mean a war of sucession, should she die.

I don't know why, but I can somehow imagine Edgar going all Stanley Kowalski...

"Rosella! ROSELLLLLAAAAA!!"

(Suddenly, Tribe remembers Elaine Benes impersonating Brando's performance and runs in fear)
Once the votes are read, the decision is final. The person voted out will be asked to leave the Tribal Council area immediately. I'll read the votes...

But in reality, it's only been slightly over a year since KQ7.

In reality its been 12 years since KQ VII.  :P  Do you mean between KQVII and TSL?

EDIT: Left out an I in KQVII

Deloria

I meant, in KQVII, it's stated that Rosella's almost twenty.
In TSL, she's twenty-one.

Ya, she's 21 in TSL's timeline.

Interesting enough in the Mask of Eternity's designer's eyes, Mask of Eternity took place at least a couple of decades after KQ7, making Graham in his 70-80's or older, that would make Rosella around her 40s-50s or so I guess. They intended him to be an elderly man, thus why he looks so frail, and wrinkly in the cutscenes.

Of course for sake of TSL's game where they wanted Graham to be 'young' enough to realistically be on another adventure, they had to reinterpret Mask, so that Graham would still fit enough for their game.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg
