Setting up a Chatroom

Hey all!

One of my friends is trying to set up a chatroom for their website, but she doesn't really have a clue about how to do it. Since yall have one, I thought I'd ask what the best, and cheapest (ie free) way to do it is.

If she purchased web hosting, there's usually something in CPanel to automatically set up a chatroom (for free ).

If she wants to actually install a Java IRC client, it'll require a bit more set up and configuring.

See, here's the thing. She hasnt purchased anything. We currently have a free forum/website that does offer a chatroom feature... for money.
...Were poor people. Is there anyway to set one up without spending money? If so, whats the website I should look at?
