Well I guess Iv've been amiss....no pun intended...But I just realized I'm supposed to sign in here if I'm a newbie....which I am.So briefly I've been a KQ fan for well over ten years now and found this sight by chance several months ago.I was involved in the signing of a petition that cat had going around.I also sent a personal letter to Vivendi and stated how I wanted them to let the game be continued. Then to my surprise I actually received a letter from them them which was posted here on the forum.I too am very eager to get a chance to play KQIX ...I do need to figure out how to get an avatar picture posted near my name.I have one all figured out but can't seem to make it work....Do I need a URL adress to do so??Ihope not because I don't have one. Thanks and talk to you all soon

I've been aware of this forum for awhile and was a member for a short time. I can remember being rather irritated that the game hadn't come along as fast I wanted it to, but then crappy games are done too fast without much thinking.

I play games on and off, not as much as I used to. Really I just like getting into stuff on the net that I normally wouldn't be interested in just for something to do.  But I do have a few questions.

The development team is still the same team?
What is a fan license?
So they don't want the King's Quest name on the game?

If this isn't the proper place, who can I PM? I'm interested in learning more about legalities like that.

Actually, you're right that this isn't the proper place to ask those questions.  The best place to ask those questions is in the The Silver Lining thread.

The most of the core team, yes. There's still Cesar, Richard, Michael (Fortunato), Petter and myself from the oooooooooold former team. And then we have Katie, Neil and Allert as well as many others who are also senior members nowadays.

What is a fan license?
'Fan License' itself is not a term or any form of condition for fan developers to achieve, we were extremely lucky and such to be able to negotiate a permission to continue the game legally.

So they don't want the King's Quest name on the game?
No, because they probably want to leave that oportunity open if they -ever- attempt to go for that. They gave us permission legally to continue creating a KQ game into the KQ world, including whatever it may. Even so, they just had that small petition we were obviously willing to give due to it was the begging of them being open minded about us continuing.

If this isn't the proper place, who can I PM? I'm interested in learning more about legalities like that.

You could PM either Jesse Black (warlock) or Cat Tyson (koko) or Neil Rodrigues (Yonkey) or myself directly. Anyone in my department could guide you if you have any unanswered question that you would like to know.

If you have further wonders I would suggest you to actually consider to create a proper thread in which you could have it answered not just by our mods but also commented by the fans.

Like it says, I re-registered. And it also says I had (very few) posts on the (even then) old(er) message board. So no, that was not my first.
