Many years ago, when my mother, my brother, my niece and myself where touring Florida, we were in a store talking our dialect and the store owner thought we were Icelandic.
Obviously if I talk English the result would be otherwise (I doubt my accent would be considered Icelandic) but I have no idea what that would be since I have not field-tested it (yet).

If someone, somehow didn't get that I was a boring American, They'd POSSIBLY think I was British. But only if I tried to be.

I could reply something to that which could be interpreted in the wrong way so I'm going to refrain myself.
It has to do with the way those from the Netherlands (and now I'm probably over-generalizing) speak certain Anglo-American words (words coming from the English language).

All I have to do is say "ya'll" once, and it removes most doubt of me being American(it's either that, or I'm not a native speaker of English ).

but if I was ever mistaken for something, other than American, it would probably be Canadian( *is counting on being able to read Quebec roadmaps * ).

Interesting note: At the murder mystery, the person next to me decided we should have false identities. I pretended to be from England and most people believed me.
