Hi This is Erik Question.  wasn't sure wher to post this so I posted it here. In kq3 and Kq6 whenever you played the prince, his name escapes me, you could cast magic spells. I've been curious if there's going to be a way to cast spells when you play the prince in kq9?

Thanks for your time! Keep up the good work!

Why not Graham?

Not all who wander are lost

Deep roots are not touched by the frost

A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be blade that was broken
The crownless again shall be king

Well, it makes a bit of sense; Rosella used a magic wand twice during KQ7, and Alexander of course has plenty of experience from both KQ3 and KQ6; but Graham also used Crispin's wand to perform magic at the end of KQ5, so why wouldn't he do magic?

It seems like a simple question, but to answer it I would end up revealing a massive part of the plot...

But, just to torture you guys more, rather than asking "why not Graham?" you should be asking yourselves "why Alexander and Rosella?".  8)

Ooh, you lousy little... XD

Still, the whole spellcasting business with Alexander was one of my favourite parts of KQIII and KQVI, so I'm glad we get to do it in KQIX as well ;)

Another question: KQV introduced iconomancy, IE magic without using words, which was used by Mordack and Graham. Will this also be in KQIX perhaps, like maybe Alexander doing regular magic and Rosella doing iconomancy?

KQIX's magic system is different from any previous game, but it's based on both words and objects. 8)

I guess Graham just doesn't have that ability, Alexander was raised by an evil wizard so he would naturally get involve with magic to escape him, Rosella is  an adventurer and she might have inherited the talent somewhere else. In Tierra's KQ2+ Graham used magic, that game sort of sugested that magic could be used by anyone. I wonder if only certain people have the talent for magic in the KQ universe, or if anyone can use with with the know how?

Graham also used magic in KQ5 - with Crispin's wand and Mordack's spellbook. But none of the three is innately magical - Alexander brews his spells from gathered ingredients using a spellbook, and Rosella uses a wand - she basically just points it at things. This suggests that in the KQ universe, anyone can use magic if they simply have a spellbook and/or a wand 8)

As for Rosella and Alex being innately magical - this isn't substantiated by any of the games. If they were, why would they bother with books and wands? ::)
Anyways, if you're using this to explain 'Why Alex & Rosella, but not Graham', you could suggest they're innately magical on their mother's side. In that case, Valanice would have a lot of explaining to do ;P

True, the connection to Valanice could play a role.  It's interesting that Valanice and her children are all kidnapped at some point(s) in their lives by evil wizards/witches, whereas Graham is not. . . is there perhaps something special about them?
(Also, is it the stance of the KQIX team that Hagatha, Lolotte, or Malicia were part of the Black Cloak Society, or only Mordack, Alhazred, Shadrack and presumably Manannan?  That question should obviously have huge impact on the development of the story.  Which is why I sincerely doubt that I'll get anything but a  :suffer: in response . . .)
The only problem with my theory is that if there is something about Valanice's bloodline that draws the attention of the wizarding types, it appears to be subconscious . . . i.e., Manannan only desires Alex as a slave and Rosella is only wanted to marry Lolotte's "son."

Hmm . . .

Thoughts?

IIRC, Cesar once said Hagatha is indeed Manannan and Mordack's sister... Of course, he didn't say whether this fact plays any role in KQ9 ::)
