This has little to do with the plot, but I don't know where else to put this. How will one die in kq9? I mean, will it be like KQ7 where one can just redo it? or will it be like the other KQ games where you have to load and save constantly out of trial and error?

I answered this somewhere, but I can't find the thread. XD

Currently, deaths will be KQ6-style.  So when you die, you must either: Restore, Restart or Quit.  We may do KQ7-style auto-saving further in the game, but I don't believe we will in Part One.

I'm glad. The auto-save was one of the t hings I didn't like about KQ7. :P
All that is gold does not glitter
Not all who wander are lost
The old that is strong does not wither
Deep roots are not touched by the frost

From the ashes a fire shall be woken
A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be blade that was broken
The crownless again shall be king

Yeah, it did make it a bit too easy. But one could also just kill oneself for the death message: "Rats, I should have been more decsive." or to see what happens i.e. the three-headded-plant says "Mmmh. Must have been a Princess." and go right back to the place where one used to be to do it over.

If the deaths aren't random/inescapable, then having to restore won't be so bad.

I think the deaths should be a lot like the deaths from KQ6 and KQ2+.  They should be funny, but not too humorous.  Also, they should be grim, but not disturbingly so.  Anyone agree with me?

I agree with you, Erik. I like the funny death messages in KQ6, and sometimes after playing the game several times it is fun to find new and interesting ways to die.

aahhh, gallows humor: my favorite.   :suffer:
- In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo – Leonardo Da Vinci, and the Renaissance...In Switzerland, they had brotherly love.   They had five hundred years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce?  ...The cuckoo clock.

I still would rather have the QK4 messages though. It was a lot less frustrating to forget to save and not have to start again from when you started that day.

That among many others...

Yeah, I thought there were a few too cartoony lame bits in KQ7, besides the auto save feature sucking.

XD XD XD Even if you're not a mod, you do a wonderful job of reprimanding people. :P

I meant it as a joke more than a reprimand, but thanks, I think. XD

PirateKingChris

Any gorey deaths?

I would like like gorey deaths but only if whatever situation that is going on would have it happen.

liggy002

can we expect to visit the underworld again, as we did in KQ6?
