I liked the Catacombs, Cliffs of Logic, and the Isle of Wonder Gnomes. :D

It was supposed to be the Isle of the Beast  >:(

Jeysie

That was a fun puzzle, especially the method of getting past the Seeing Gnome.

Bumpage.

Some of the puzzles in the KQ2 VGA remake are pretty awesome, considering they completely redid that game and its entire plot, and did a damn good job with it. Anyhow, I liked running away from the sharkies and whatnot.
"And still we all are so hopeful,
So righteous in our blood.
It looks so tarnished in our eyes,
Yet so afraid of...

Fading into nothing,
Fading into nothing.
Just a trace of light
That burns within our thoughts... "

Linnau

Some of my favourite puzzles:

1. KQ6 - figuring out the correct genie lamp when you're "dead". I think it's a smart one. When Alex picks the right one in the end, it's like a lucky guess from his part, or some sort of "inner intuition".

2. KQ3 - finding the buried treasure after overhearing the rats in the ship's cargo hold. It's actually the only beneficial of the "understaing animals" spell. It's like a bonus you get.

3. KQ4 - digging up the different graves and pacifying the ghosts: creepy, atmospheric, powerful (at least it used to be, when I first played it).

KQ VI sense gnomes (nice, clever little puzzle.)

KQ VI Catacombs (so many fond memories of mapping that maze...only to discover that a crude map of the damn thing + traps is actually hidden away behind a paragraph in the KQ VI manual!)

"The New O.B?"

I have seen it all now!
When cities burn and armies turn,
and flee in disarray,
Cowards will cry 'tis best to fly
and fight another day.
But warriors know it in their marrow when they die and fall,
It is better to have fought and lost than not have fought at all.

I liked in KQ7 when you have to feed the golden grapes to the cherub to descend into the Realm of the Trolls.
My namesake is the one you'll love to hate
Maybe it's because she's different--not the same
And such an identity satisfies my artistic brain...
I love King's Quest!
It's insane!

Oooh! I agree!
In KQ7 I also liked the whole cornucopia thing. Oh! Oh! And the harp, to see the fates. If I recall, though, I initially couldn't hear the little fairy's song, so that one was more difficult.

I liked the whole evil forest thing the golden heart/the tree/the gnomes with the emeralds in KQ5.

I haven't played KQ6 in forever... or I don't remember it that well, anyway. But on the same vein as the rat/cat puzzle completely killing you later in the game if you didn't do it... How about not getting the hole in the wall before going up the Steps of Knowledge? That was soooo frustrating, to get all that room in the labyrinth, only to find out we had to restore way back, and go all the way up the darn cliff again. Meh. *evil memories*
Is it sleepy time yet?

Well, whenever I forgot something that I need in the catacombs, ALexander say's that he isn't ready and you are escorted down to the beach where youcan get the stuff you need. Then you can climb backup again. I never understood the 'mapping the desert part' in KQ5 or the 'get the gold and the lamp and get out of there as fast as you possibly can' (this is very difficult if you have it on  the highest game speed level' gett ing out of the dark forest was also tough.

The thing is that I tried "love" (It was the first thing I tried since it was so obvious), but for some reason, it didn't work the first time and I told myself, oh well, that's not it. Never tried it again until months later, and I was like "way to go..."

Oddly enough, the same thing happened to me. I wonder why that is.

Actually I think you need to get the clue out of the black widow's web first and then it will work.

No you don't - the first time I finished the game I couldn't figure out how to get that note from the web, but I was still able to answer it correctly and finish on the long path.
It would have been a really annoying dead end if you had to :-\

Yeah. Sort of likein KQ5 if Crispin never showed up in the end (as an example).
