Besides, we have the desire to become a real, legitimate company at some point in the future, so with this C&D it's the end of all things legally debatable. From this point on we are respecting VU's (and others') intellectual property to 100% and will act differently the next time we start up a new game.

We the fans are the most powerful force a company like VU can come across when ording a game to shut down. Fans are so numerous, that it's impossible for them to lose as long as they keep trying and doing their best. And right now, we're doing as close as we can get to our best. POS and the fans WILL be victorious! (if anyone here is from VU or works for VU and reads the posts but doesn't post things themselves, then you can qoute me on this. Tell the heads of VU that we won't stop at anything to get this game made.)

I'd have to say, thats a nice poem! And your right, POS will win, because we, the fans, will never give up the fight. I visit this forum almost everyday now! I used to visit every once in a while. But now thats all changed. I do it all for POS. (And Say!)

You do realize don't you that working on the game in secret wouldn't have any point because just in case VU  decides NOT to allowe the fgame at all, all the effort would go to waste and releasing it in secret would be illegal.

I didn't have time to read all the previous posts, but I have a question.
Why simply you don't change all the copyrighted names of the story and put all the dialogues in a text file so anyone who is willing to change the names can do it using a simple search and replace? Or optionally to distribute afterwards a patch only to this community ...you know, something like the case of "San Andreas" "hot coffee" and what Rockstar did that time...

We were explicitly told to stop production of it till further notice, our negotations are obviously regarding the future of it, as we've stated previously, we won't do anything until we know it's alright to do so, and we will act as we consider best for everyone.  So far, there are no plans to release anything whatsoever in any shape, form, path, source, code, plot, or whatnot.

EDIT: You know what, I'm going to start living up to my name. Anyone who suggests that all the team needs to do is change the names will get their torch extinguished. Sure, it means nothing, but it's the only way I can think of to prevent my head from exploding in frustration.

I just skimmed through the whole thread and counted 28 suggestions to change the name and the names of the characters. I didn't include sarcastic suggestions (ie. GunHoMac, me), suggestions to use the same design with whole new characters and plot or comments in response to other suggestions to change the names. I did this as quickly as I could, so my counting could be way off.

I was using "Find on this Page so I will start from page twelve and continue to see what my count is. Hey! I Just figured a great idea out! You should change the names, game, plot, teammembers, music, voiceactors, genre of game, location, and costumes! Don't worry we'll be able to figure it out. Afterall these are only legal or not. By the way I haven't read other posts before this one...C'mon guys you guys would be able to change all that stuff in no time!

However, one of the best option is to investigate few lawyers that know more about copy rights infringements.

They could win by negotiations with Vivendi. Anything that disobeys the cease and desist would not be a win for POS.

Is there a doubting thomas here? Listen, POS will win. But it will take time. It could take months but how am I to know. Just like Ghandi in India. He wanted to win India peace and justice without violence (in POS' view taking them to court which would cost much money) And did Ghandi win? Did India get it's rights? Do the goodguys always win?
So now I ask you: Are POS the goodguys? Do you think that this team will EVER give up??? Good luck POS I am behind you 100%!
