Also if we own shares of stock we could get a more powerful voice! we'er not just fans now we'er stock holders! :suffer:

Deloria

But stocks are expensive and would we invest in VU games or in another company that they hold? How much would we invest? How many shares do we each get?

Just FYI:

For those interested in being 'pure' about being ANTI-VU

I found this online, seems to be a list of major companies and brands they own; I can't vouch for accuracy but I would say it can't be far off.

Spread the word =D

Well, the VU mods did erase my thread, but at least they didn't warn me.

Although they also deleted my comment in the Boycotting Compilations thread, which seems a little excessive...just because it mentioned KQIX.

Even if all of us are willing to buy a piece of VU games stock
How much monney does it takes before we have enough stock to force them to give up?
If I buy stock of them (they probebly have milions of stock)
It would take many more people to become the threu holders of vivendi.
Then again the price of the stock will also course a problem.

Man. I am so depressed right now. Why they gotta be botherin' us? We could hardly be putting a dent in their empire. This was just something for us. Next they'll make sure little kids don't run around calling themselves Sir Graham while playing make-believe. If I were insanely rich, I would SO buy Vivendi. Right now.
Copyright laws. just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you should. Oh, heck. Lets not lose heart, comrades :gossip: , lest we forget the very title of this noble fan game. and also phoenixes. they rise again. Or so I'm told.  ;)

about the stock idea i was just putting ideas out there so they could be A: shot or B: used! I was just thinking if each one of us bought lets say 10 shares of stock and that costed like 100 dollars (Ouch) and a thousand people did that we would have (begines counting on hands) 10,000 shares of stock! i was jsut thinking!!

Barawulf

I sifted through the last 5-10 pages and am wondering...

Yes, this is terrible, but is anybody playing hardball?

What I mean to say is, has the team investigated meeting with Vivendi? Make phone calls. Maybe buy the rights? (Everybody has a price...) You've got a huge fanbase here with some buying power -- and rather than boycotting Vivendi, what if you pay them off?

Or if they're unwilling to do so, take it to court? Getting a lawyer on retainer could also be done with donation money.

Capitulating may be an only option, granted. But have the other options been explored fully?

I'd give $20-50 in donations. There are likely to be at least a thousand others here willing to do the same. We're talking $20-50K, which is a decent chunk of change.

Money = power. Let's use it?

GunHoMac

Sure, it'd be nice to use fan-donated funds to buyout the IP for King's Quest from Vivendi, but you have to take into account that this is still an online-based fan community.  Most notably, complacency is a common trademark of such a community.  Certainly, there will be a good number of fans who will donate their share to the cause, but in the end all you will get is a breeze when you need a hurricane.

Money is not the way to solve this.  We're talking about VU here; money is their lifeblood...not integrity, not fan consideration, just profit.  They shall continue to do as they have done, but money will not be the weapon to take them down.

Hi again... Do we have any update on those issues from POS ?

I mean we all are speculating too much. I think we all need an update on what is beeing done.

Thanks for your time.

PS: I'd be more than happy to donate too if this might help.

Rosierox

yeah, i think most of us would like to have an idea of what the team thinks the actual viable options are.

My all time favorite game type is definitly Adventure Games... I just don't understand why NO COMPANY has continued this type... I think there is still a user base for it ; not all the world is blood, gore and violence thirsty...

As I said before, I am ready to invest into founding an Adeventure Game Company... I just dont have enough time/knowledge to create and develop games on my own. But I would really put money into a company like that.

PS... Still waiting for an official POS update  ::) :P

Awesomeappossum,

To my knowledge, Vivendi hasn't produced any adventure games at all.  Aside from owning Sierra in the sense that they control all its intellectual property, they have nothing to do with adventure games.  Knowledge Adventure (an educational software division) may have produced some "adventure-ish" games in the past, but even if they did, none were close to an adventure game as we know the term.  But no, I don't believe Vivendi has ever had any direct role in the creation, production, or publication of an adventure game... which makes all of this stink all the more.

On a personal note, I'd like to congratulate you on a job well done on that video.  Even though I'm not connected to the team anymore and the game went in a direction I didn't intend, it was still touching, even for me.  And thanks for your kind reply to my first post, too.

If you wouldn't mind, send me a PM with your e-mail address and contact info for instant messaging (AIM, MSN, etc.).  I'd like to talk with you more. :-)

Exactly. If we used money, we would only be giving Vivendi bad ideas.

Actually, it would cost more, depending on what we invest in.

I saw your sig and in the good & bad thread commented on how the words under your picture (which is gone btw) is bad because it totally explains Vivendi.
