I recall that in the introduction movie of King's Quest V - Absence Makes the Heart Go Yonder, Crispin gave Graham the ability to communicate with animals. I wonder if this ability might be used in The Silver Lining, or if it has been assumed that the effect was only temporary.
Once the votes are read, the decision is final. The person voted out will be asked to leave the Tribal Council area immediately. I'll read the votes...

I'm assuming that most animals in The Silver Lining will be able to speak, so Graham has nothing to worry about.   ;D

Actually, come to think of it, the concept art doesn't feature many "real-life" animals. :(

I hope not. All those animals were always annoying. =S

I liked the guard dogs, and the many creatures of the isle of Wonder.

I dunno. I don't like realistic animals talking, but mystical unrealistic ones are fine o_O;.

Deloria

Like the dangeling participle? :P The rotten tomato wasn't an animal anymore than it was mythical, still I thought it was pretty amusing.

I mean like the guard dogs and the bookworm. Though the bookworm, the dangling particible, and the talking plants were all fairly irritating. None of them reached the levels that Cedric, the mouse, the ants or the bees did.

I always wondered, though. Why can't Graham talk to carnivores? Except the eagle, neither cat could speak, nor could the bear or the dog. I would think they (especially Mannanan) would have something interesting to say.

Next time you play try talking to them again. It explains the cat isn't interested in talking to you. The dog is too preoccupied with the ants. The bear is too preoccupied with the tree.

So ya they could have talked to you if they wanted to talk to you.

Oh and try talking to Manannan the next time you play, I guarentee he'll answer back, but it leads to instant death. As he will say something run from the room, and not long after Mordack will teleport in to kill you.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

I didn't know he answers back. :D What does he say exactly?

IIRC, he asks Graham where he came from, and assures him that his long journey will be over quickly. There's some pretty scary music when you talk to him, freaked me out the first time. Typical Manannan...

It was still scarier when Mannanan glares at you in KQ3, and doesn't say much at all, ;).

Can you talk to Manannan after turning him into a cat (in KQ3, that is)?
"A wish changes nothing. A decision changes everything."

Jafar

You can try, but the game just tells you not to waste time with him now that you're free. Manannan's cat is alot more talkative, especially when he kills you on the stairs. :P

You can but it just says: "Boy, Manannan sure is quiet today. (hehe)"

Nope. I tried that aswell. You have to talk to him in the kitchen, though, right after he transforms.

Poor Mannanan. Well... I guess he deserves it.

I wanna hear Mannanans voice! Bah, I guess I could try going through that game again.

Yonkey

Voice?  I don't think sound cards existed back then. :S

I think he means KQ5 Manannan. ;P

Yeah, I meant KQ5. :P

I'd play through KQ3 again, but that game is so hard >__<;. I never solved it even with a walkthrough. Though the Walkthrough wasn't very flexible when it came to Mannanan coming and going from the house. "By now you should have to go back and hide your things 'cause Mannanan will be back!!11" bah. And alot of those things took me a while. I never did get that damned eagle feather.

Er, but I'm drifting dangerously off-topic.

So uh... what animals do you think we'll see in the Land of the Green Isles in KQ9?

We didn't see many in the original. Most of them didn't have anything to do with anything if they weren't guard dogs or on the Isle of Wonder. (Or weren't the genie in disguise...)
