Upon browsing through the archives, I found a thread about maps.
However, Cesar didn't go so far as to explain how the maps would be implimented. I assume that you use the map of the Green Isles just like Alex did in KQVI, but what about the others? Are they going to be there just so that you can keep track of where you are, or can you use it to jump to places you've already been, or are they used in the manner of the Monkey Island games? ???

So many questions... :P
All that is gold does not glitter
Not all who wander are lost
The old that is strong does not wither
Deep roots are not touched by the frost

From the ashes a fire shall be woken
A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be blade that was broken
The crownless again shall be king

Hmmm... back then I was pretty sure Cesar meant those maps would be added to the site rather than the game, as the site has maps of every other KQ land (check the Library section) :S
They were never added though, maybe Mike's been too busy :P

Perhaps, but the maps in the library only contain

  • Kingdom of Daventry
  • Land of Kolyma
  • Land of Llewdor
  • Land of Serenia
  • Land of Tamir
and Cesar's announcement was way back in November 26, 2002, and the maps he mentioned aren't in the library yet. However, in the new screenshots at Gamespy, you see the map of the Green Isles, so I would assume that they would be incorporated into the game. Besides, the maps in the library were drawn by Karen Minot (from the King's Quest Companion), and Ceasr said that Mike would be drawing the other maps. :P

But I could be wrong...

My point exactly, but it doesn't mean they're going to be included in the game itself... it could mean they never got around to adding them or (as Cat suggested) weren't too serious about adding them in the firstplace ;)

Besides, the original thread Cesar refers to was about maps on the site, not maps in the game... I mean, who even thought about those things back then? IIRC, that was before they even said who the playable characters are, let alone which lands would be in the game :-X

I drew a map for my imaginary world of Elysia. Now, it needs changing. I will do a couple of maps during the different time periods of Elysia, showing the division of the land into different countries, kingdoms and empires.
