Questing Character

Gosh, the posts in this thread tend to be quite long. :P

I just want to throw something out there that may have already been said (I got impatient, I'm sorry :P)
GunHoMac said that a kingdom only has one castle.  That is, in fact, not true.  Many kingdoms had multiple castles.  Some were for the nobility, rather than the ruler of the kingdom.  Some kingdoms had a secondary castle that, in case of an invasion, the royal family could flee to should their primary castle fall.  I would imagine, in a large enough kingdom, the royal family might have a "summer castle" and a "winter castle" too.  Y'know, if one was warmer inside or if the kingdom was large enough to have different seasonal climates or something.
That last one is actually my theory for the (apparently) two castles present in Daventry.

Good points on the idea of a summer and winter castle. I brought that up earlier.

However I was told from one of the producers of MoE, "Mark Seibert" that it was infact the same castle from King's Quest 1-6, and mask of Eternity.

Yes I know it has has some consistency issues with location of the previous castle, but unfortunately it was always intended to be the same castle.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

Just tell me, why wasn't there a summer/winter castle in KQ1? :P
Also, KQ5 takes place in Summer or late spring, KQ8 takes place in the fall, so that Summer/Winter castle does make sense.

Ya it makes sense, unfortunately that wasn't what the designers had in mind.

To them its the same castle throughout the entire series including MOE, called "Castle Daventry"...  :P

They weren't exactly consistent with the castle's location, and architecture in MOE though :P...

Come to think of it though the outside of the castle as it was seen in KQ1 AGI is different than the KQ1 remake somewhat. KQ2, and KQ3 used the outside as seen in KQ1 AGI. KQ5's outside looked quite a bit different than in KQ1, and 2.

KQ4, and 6 doesn't show the castle's outside.

KQ7 has Rosella singing in what is apparently the castle's garden, though you don't see the castle... Its located on top of a mountain :p(unless her song was located elsewhere from the garden where her mother and her were talking)....

At least Castle Daventry's architecture was mostly consistent throughout most of the series. At least the games were usually consistent in showing its location to be in a meadow valley on a mountain.

As for the throne room inconsistencies between early KQ and MOE?

Well at least the novels establish that Castle Daventry actually has two throne rooms, a small one and the Great Hall. Great Hall being the one seen in most of the games.

Also, in Kingdom of Sorrow, Graham describes Daventry as a small kingdom, so it probably isn't large enough to have a summer and winter castle.
