Book Idea

I've been thinking for a while of doing a few KQ books. I have many ideas, one of them being a collection of fan fiction from this forum and many others. But I wanted to know what you all think of some of them... An Idea I'm very proud of is called One Sip Too Many. It's about a traveler who finds the fountain of youth, and drinks from it. But he ends up drinking too much, and is rapidly growing older until he dies. This traveler is in reality a very close friend of King Graham's. A friend from when Graham was still a knight. Right now I've just been contemplating the idea... I have more... Like the discovery of a fourth treasure of Daventry that King Edward knew about, but was sworn to secrecy by an Evil Wizard. (Any ideas who this wizard might be?) That is just a few of my many ideas. Who knows, maybe I could make a new Trilogy of books... But I wanted to know what everyone here thinks of them. I could post some preliminary writing from early drafts of a few them if you want to find out more. I hope you like the ideas!

If you want to use my fan fiction (ALEXANDER) for a collection that would be cool. Oh and how would drinking to much from the fountain of youth make someone grow older?

It's just a preliminary idea... I just thought of it randomly... I'm not sure if I'll do a collection, but getting it published would be kinda nice. Everybody would be able to find King's Quest fan fiction in one central book. Although I would need copyrights... So it would be kinda hard... But still a neat idea I think...

Oh, DMD, I could make a collection of fan fiction, and your King Edward thing could be in it... I've thought about the same idea a few times. I've always wondered what kind of quests King Edward had... KQX would be kind of hard, wouldn't it?

You are welcome to put my fanfics in your book/story/webpage, as long as I get credit for it. If a traveler came across a fountain of youth, what if he drank to much till he became a baby and then he was back in his mother's womb and hadn't been born yet, that could be how he died. or what if it is really the fountain of aging, your reflection in the water looks young, but in reality it ages you till you are old. Hey, that's a cool idea! I'd be willing to help out if you want a collection of KQ fanfiction.

I'd love help! And I would of course give credit to everyone who helps and contributes. My goal is to get the book published so people can see how devoted we fans are to KQ and see what stories we can make up from this vast and never ending world.

My original idea with the fountain of youth was that if you drank too much, you grow old, if you drink too little, you grow younger, and if you drink just the right amount, then you have immortality and will remain in a young state forever. That was what I was originally thinking, but I also like the idea of aging that you suggested, Rosedragon! If anyone would like to help with the collection, that's fine with me. Anyone who wants to help is welcome to. I would give credit to all, and if published, however unlikely, I would give a share of profits to all. But it most likely won't get published. But anything's possible...

you never know.  just look up a publishing company and give them a call.  it worked for j k rowling

you could have the two fountains and one is poisoned, so the traveler, thinking that they were both normal water, drinks from the other and is later questioned by a wise man why he chose to drink from the fountain of aging.

Thanks Pacman! Maybe I'll try and organize that now... I don't know. I would of course need copy rights from VU, and after that, a publishing company willing to publish it. Since there is so much KQ fan fiction, it would likely be a series... Like volume one, volume two etc. Also, we may also be able to make a book comprised of the three KQ novels. Just like with myst... They made a book that is really three books in one. It's the three myst books published in one, and so maybe we could do that for KQ... Get those books back in circulation or something... If anyone wants to help, then PM me. I could use a lot of help. I am open to any type of KQ fan-fiction, from anywhere, and if you know of anyone who wants to submit some, then... Ya know, maybe I'll just organize a group of people first, and not get ahead of myself!

Yes, it certainly would be. But I've got a new idea now... If a book collection fails or proves to be too hard, then perhaps a website would do better...? It could be easier to compile the fan-fiction and much easier to navigate... And finding fan-fiction to put on should be no problem, what with TSL being a prominant place to start, with others following suit. The problem would lie in creating the site itself, and getting a domain name. I could always hire someone to code a website using HTML or Javascript or something, or I could use Freewebs.... But HTML would do better I think... Well, if anyone wishes to help or contribute ideas, then either PM me or post it in here. Whichever you prefer. I'm open to help, as well as suggestions... Perhaps when a team has been formed, I will have a "roundtable" disscussion of sorts...
