Simple Question about the Plot

We've been told that the plot of TSL is really complex. Just a simple question: Is the plot so complex that it will have even old-school fans of the King's Quest series and newbies alike scratching their heads?
What I mean is will there be generally mysterious plot lines that take totally 100% unexpected (yet totally plausible) twists and turns?

Yup.

I recall a few plot twists that I wasn't expecting whatsoever when I read the script.  I tend to enjoy stories/movies/TV shows that are unpredictable and have really nice plot twists.
