Yeah having the core system was a mistake in my opinion. It's a ripoff because over here the core is $500 and the better one is $600.

   First off I would like to introduce myself, I am DeathDeli as you can see. I play a variety of games and own all current and almost all previous consoles. I hope to own all the next-gen consoles as well, since I have an urge to collect them . In addition, I also read IGN, GameSpot, and multiple other videogame news sources daily in order to keep up with all the changes in the video game industry.

I would like to bring to light a few facts to those that do not keep track with all the changes and news. However, if you do not choose to read all of this then please just read the last few paragraphs.

To begin, as said previously I have all current and so far the only next-gen console available, the Xbox 360. Contrary to what some individuals state the 360 is formitable hardware. The cream of the crop has to be the Xbox Live service, which one must have a broadband connection whether it be Cable or DSL. Xbox Live comes in two flavors, Silver or Gold. The Silver service is free while Gold service is just a small fee of $50 a year, not a month, not a day, a year.

The FREE Silver Service provides you with free downloadable demos, new and classic arcade games for download (price range around $5 to $12, such as the the classic game Uno only $5 and addictive at that!), free HD music videos, free HD movie trailers, free HD game previews, and some free downloadable content. Plus, you are also able to talk to your friends and others in voice chat while playing arcade games, xbox 360 games, downloading content, and so on for free as well!

The Gold Service has all that plus a bag of chips. The major addition between silver and gold has to be the multiplayer experience, with an addition to webcam chat that will be arriving september in the US.

Lastly, there are those out there than are probably wondering: "Ok, so that is the xbox 360 but what about the PS3, or the Nintendo Wii?"

Before I continue let be reinterate that I love all the consoles (admittedly, some more than others ), in fact I am planning on also getting a Nintendo Wii and since Iwata (President of Nintendo) said himself, ""Nintendo is not working on a next-generation console" (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6152265.html) meaning they are trying to seperate themselves from the competition, to be in a world of their own and I strongly respect that.

The PS3 probably has the least of my love, don't get me wrong I love some of their games however it just comes down to their console. Sony announced at E306 that the PS3 will be $600, that is $200 more than the Xbox 360 (not to mention at the end of this year rumors have it that Microsoft will lower the price of the Xbox 360 $50, bringing it down to $250 for the core and $350 for the premium). $600 bucks may be a lot of money, however Sony is also offering another package like Microsoft is doing now. The other package will be priced at $500. I believe it's pretty expensive for a console, not to mention that you can buy a premium Xbox 360 AND a Nintendo Wii probably for the price of a PS3. (Xbox 360 = $400, Wii = roughly $200, which in total = $600 the PS3 price).

The difference between the two SKUs is that $600 bucks is for a PS3 with a 60gig hard-drive, and $500 is for a PS3 with a 20gig hard-drive. At the surface, this looks like a better deal than the Xbox 360. However, inside it is a rude awakening. What Sony doesn't tell the consumers is that the $500 console does not contain some of the bells and whistles the $600 console carries. The $500 console are as follows: No HDMI support, No memory card support, and No Wi-Fi Support (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/709/709973p1.html). Although Phil Harrison said those things can be added later, it doesn't mean when it ships it will have those for the $500 model at launch. Looking at this the core Xbox 360 package looks pretty good to me.

Sony is also taking a gamble with the PS3, boasting in it's new next-gen blu-ray player. The problem with this is the fact there isn't blu-ray players out yet to play movies. HD-DVD is the only next-gen available on the market right now, and with HD-DVD getting a head start in the consumer market the blu-ray medium has less of a chance to become standard. If the PS3 blu-ray technology fails to sell to movie go-ers then it will only be used to play current DVDs or games, and will not be accepted for next-gen movie playback.

Microsoft set themselves up nicely with this. The Xbox 360 will come out with a external HD-DVD player to play movies of that medium. This means if HD-DVD fails to deliver, then Microsoft can just make an external blu-ray player as well. Microsoft wins either way.

Sorry for a little bit of a rant there, however I just wanted to give some individuals a little bit more insight to the industry.

lol, that's why "anti" is too strong a word.   There's no need to be anti-XBox or anti-MS, because there's nothing wrong with playing it and enjoying it!   Liking XBox will have no impact on any of the other consoles you like more.
