Hey

I read in the journal that Cesar had talked to Peter Spear, author of the King's Quest companion and that Spear was impressed with TSL. Perhaps when all is said and done, and TSL is out in full, or even when Shadows is out, Mr. Spear could perhaps pen for us a TSL novelization..?

That would be nice, but I don't know...

That would actually be pretty nice! XD

As far as I know, he's never worked for Sierra but was able to write books based off the KQ series, so I don't see how writing a book based off of TSL would be much different. :P

Yeah...Maybe he could like work with the team and write the novelization and add in little background facts or ideas not mentioned in the game like he did with the KQ Companion..and something that would be really neat would be if you could get VU's permission to have that book actually published.

Deloria

You need VU's permission?

We wouldn't, but he most likely would, or whatever license he had in the past that allowed him to use Sierra IP.

Forgive me, but I thought the TSL rights belonged to POS. :P Even though VU does own Sierra and TSL is based on KQ. He'd be writing the TSL companion.

He'd probably need your permission (for the original content and storyline) and VGs (for the KQ content)

I think it would be really great if POS and VG would give him permission though. I would love to see even more TSL.

That would be very nice. I believe that POS would give him their permission to make it, and then VG might decide if there is enough support. In which case, I'd be the first in line for it!

Yeah, and considering he's obviously gotten permission from them in the past, I don't believe it would be any different now.  But, that was Sierra and this is VG, so who knows. :-\

Raisde your hand if you want to bribe VG! XD

Seriously. do you think that you would authorize such a book? That you would give him permission to write a book of your own creations, and that VG could... It would be so cool for the fans! (But the book must be published through out the world, as we all know how diverse this amazing place is!)

We probably would, but just as VG did to us, we would want to review it first before it goes public. :)

A TSL companion would be awesome. I never actually read any of the KQ Companions (am I the only one? XD) but I'd still want one. XD

I haven't read any of them before either, but I would love to see a TSL Companion. ;D

IMHO, the games should tell the story completely without the need for any companion you need to buy just to get the complete backstory. :say:

They do! But the companions are fascinating to read from someone else's point of view. Sometime's they differ a bit from the storyline to explain things that generally make more sense (an example is the catacombs in KQ6, there are inscriptions in the companions, in the game, you have to rely on a walkthrough or the guidebook. But how would Alexander know which way to go?)

As someone that has read TSL's plot word for word, I would still enjoy reading a TSL companion.  As Deloria said, it's possible for him to bring a different perspective to the plot and work more of the high-level storylines into something more comprehensive than the game can describe.  Also, our plot isn't completely all-encompassing, meaning some of the NPC's could definitely have a backstory that we don't really know anything about from TSL itself. :)
