Is there a way to upload a picture from my HD to be my avatar?

I think you already did.   Just go to your profile and click on Browse... then hit Change Profile.

Yes I pointed to the web to upload this one but I would like to upload one from my comuputer.

I think that’s the problem, I don’t see the browse button. I click the profiles button up top and then click the Forum Profile Information link on the left side and I see “I have my own pic” but I can’t point to a file on my computer. Where am I going wrong?

I meant, onto a website and then supply the URL from there. You might try photobucket it's freeware and easy to use.

Once you're on the Profile page, choose Forum Profile Information from the column on the left.  Then you should see the "Browse..." button.

No offense, but I don't see it in the Forum Profile Information, just the URL box.
