Hi

I address this to Petter Holmberg...Where did you find the information that you used to create the Sierra history? Like your sources? I'm kind of interested in Sierra's history, particulary the '90s, and it's very hard to find information. Any help would be appreciated greatly.

Interesting question... I haven't been to his site in ages untold, but would likely wonder the same thing myself. So, please, preytell, where did your info come from? (Trustworthy sources, I hope!)

The info was collected from many sources and it took quite a bit of research to compile this. :)

Much of the information are from official sources, such as notes in Sierra games manuals and official books. I also got a few details from reading interviews with old employees. In some cases the details were not always consistent, but I've tried to dig out the real facts from the available information.

I managed to snatch many old logos and pieces of information from websites that are long gone today. Thanks to The Wayback Machine and obsolete information on some abandoned websites, some of these treasures could be saved. :)

A real must-have if you're interested in Sierra's history is the book Hackers by Steven Levy. A third of it tells the story of the early years of On-Line Systems, before the release of King's Quest 1.

I know some additional facts and corrections that I planned to include in the story, but since joining POS I have given priority to our game development and had to put plans for the website on the shelf. One day I'll pick it up again though. ;)

Other people have contributed greatly to the Sierra archival efforts in recent years, and a lot of cool stuff can be found at www.sierragamers.com where a lot of helpful people (including Ken Williams) hang out.

Personally, my #1 wish is that the Sierra Newsletter/InterAction magazine scanning and archival efforts are going to be completed because I don't own a single issue of these magazines (*curses self for not registering as a Sierra customer in the early 90's*) and they should provide tons of reliable information that could be added.

I really want to buy that book which discusses the games from a narrator's point of view... it was pretty fun to read. :)
