I think I read someplace about someone who made a VGA remake of Hugo 1, and got a Cease & Desist from the original developer, who claimed he was still making money selling the game... maybe writing shareware really pays off? :S
Wouldn't making a fangame shareware still be reason enough to get a C&D? ???  Or did I miss something there? :P

Sure, the copyright owner has the right to close fangames down, shareware or no. It's just that, since we're talking about a crappy old EGA game that you can download and play freely without paying the author anything, it's a bit surprising to hear the guy is still making money off it :S

Quote from: Baggins on August 06, 2006, 06:27:20 PMThe Adventures of Maddog Williams was a similar case, except the shareware demo only went as far as the first village.

The full game is now available on the developer's site:

Ok, I know I'm double posting, quoting myself AND resurrecting a thread with this post... but I just had to!

After struggling with this game on-and-off for over 12 years (mostly off, because it's such an annoying piece of crap), I have FINALLY finished it last night ;D ;D ;D I just had to share this great accomplishment with someone who would appriciate it, and you people are the next best thing ;P

Now I'll be off to write a walkthrough for this miserable excuse for a game... lest others spend their best years hopelessly stuck in it :o

For some reason I read Mythbusters instead of Mythmaster. XD

And I know the frustration of being stuck in an obscure game too... I was stuck in Keys to the Kingdom (some biblical text adventure) for years before I found a walkthrough.
