:'( My birdie is dead. He's a little budgie, and I thought he would live to be about 10 years old, that's how old my sister's budgie was when he died. I went to uncover his cage this morning, and he was lying at the bottom of the cage, not moving. I wonder if he got sick, or died because he wouldn't eat his bird seed. I feel like it's my fault because I didn't take good enough care of him. Maybe I should have given him vitamins. He was acting strangely yesterday. My cat has comforted me, she didn't have anything to do with his death. Poor baby. I'll bury him when my parents get home. I loved my little bird.

I'm sorry about your birdie...my bunnie that I had years ago died when it was only about a year old.

what kind of bird was it?  And where did you get it?  My friend and her brother one had a few parakeets.  They got them at a pet store that had them in an open box (so people could pick them up), so they may have caught illness from people holding them constantly bacuase they didn't live long at all.  The got one from a different pet store, one that kept them in a cage, only to be touched my employees, lived the longest.

I know how you feel.  I think I posted this in the cat's post, but one of our cats disappeared about a year ago.  he was getting old and slow, and one day he went out and never came home.  he probably picked a fight with the wrong animal out in the woods behind my house (which is where those darn squirrels are comming from!)

My bird was a parakeet. A budgie is a kind of parakeet. He was 6 years old when he died today. I got him from a pet store where he was kept in a cage with the other birds. I think only store employees were allowed to touch them. Maybe I should have paid more attention to the advice in Birdtalk magazine. Sorry about your cat and your rabbit. I had a rabbit which died after a year. It was kind of wild though, and didn't like to be cuddled, even though he was a domesticated rabbit. At least I still have my cat. She's friendly.

oh my god, Im so so sorry about that sweetie

I know what it feels like, my first pet ever was a yellow bird which i loved more than anything in the world, and he aged and yet he was the cutest on earth to me, he lived for 13  years, Im amazed he lived that long really, birds are not meant to live that long sweetie, Im really really sorry yours died, It does feels really bad when you see it not moving anymore, bird do bring joy and happiness to see them moving all over in the cage, and when you dont it just gives you the deepest emtpy and you cant help but cry about it, I still do when I remember mine, it was so damn special for me  :'(
Dont feel that about about it though, it was your fault, I know birdies are not meant to live that long sweetie, it just happens :(
