Hi

I wasn't there for most of the chat (due to my crappy internet--sorry guys!) but I read in the "Which goodie"  it mentioned a TSL novelization by Peter Spear. 1) Wow! 2) How is this novel going to be able, I mean will it be a book in stores or is it going to be available online or both?

Yonkey

Whoa there!  I don't even think Peter has begun work on it yet, let alone its Amazon.com url. :P

Anyway, considering his previous novels were all physical, I will assume this one will be as well.  Although, if it's not possible to commercialize, I would enjoy it just as well as an e-book, PDF ...or a cool Flash application that animates page turning and stuff!! XD!

OMG, I think I've turned into you! :o

I doubt it would it could be commercialized. Probably in the same boat as the game itself.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. I'm surprised he has the time as well. Now if he'd just go back and finish the novel he had started for Mask of Eternity ;). Its fanfic I'd definitely read.

No he never finished it. It was more like notes and scribbles, he had just started the brainstorming session for 5th edition of the companion before his publisher cancelled the book for several reasons. Apparently one of them being that the book was getting to be pretty thick.

Derek's not part of our plot. The TSL Companion on the other hand... ;)

Ya, i'm really curious how TSL companion is going to tie into official companion and your game, as the TSL timeline and Official one are bit different. So there is bound to be a few discrepencies that will pop up.

I suppose, TSL novel will have to follow your timeline rather than the official one though. Otherwise we'll have yet another alternate timeline(The Peter Spear Timeline, anyone?) LOL.

:suffer:

QuoteAnd yes, judging by his accent, he is clearly not from the Green Isles, so I can see how it was implicated that he's a foreigner

If you are referring to the Ferryman, there is no way he is a foreigner. His family had been running the ferry for generations.

As per the Guidebook;
QuoteThe family that runs the ferry has done so for generations, each father passing on to his son the secret of the tricky navigation. Many believe that the ferryman`s family line has an uncanny instinct for the sea around the isles. It is said that they sail " by the blood in their veins". One thing is certain: I would not venture to sail a ship in these waters, so whatever the secrets of the ferryman`s family - thank the stars for it!

You know, I was actually wondering why you didn't ask Peter Spear any questions during the event, particularly timeline related ones... :P

Well I missed the first part of the event, so I missed all the parts Peter Spear answered questions (even missed the part that he's going to write a novelization of the story).

I did ask him some questions behind the scenes though. That is how I found out about the 5th edition he started working on, and the notes he has kept on it(information that has been added to the Omnipedia btw).

Unfortunately apparently he didn't have his own opinion for when MoE took place.

Also I didn't ask any questions during later part of the event because I thought questions were only open to the press. While I may be a major contributor to the King's Quest Omnipedia(even an Administrator now even), I don't think that qualifies me as part of the press LOL.

The first hour (which actually was more like an hour and a half due to starting late) was for press only.  The rest was Fan Q&A. :)

Anyway, we're extremely off topic here so... *splits*

EDIT: And... *merges* XD

Wait......you guys got Peter Spear? :o Now I am impressed. I have his King's Quest companion (vol 2) and the Leisure Suit Larry bedside companion. Those books were great, and now he's working on a TSL one?

I guess you guys can't publish though right? Not with the KQ name attached, unless of course it was just "The Silver Lining Companion" amd never once referenced the originals it might be okay. Either way I'd definately buy it. :)

Petra Rocks

Actually since TSl has only a non-commercial license, I doubt one could sell a novel based on it, without some sort of permission anyway.  But I'm not expert on such laws, so don't take that as gospel,  :)

TribeHasSpoken

Any such work would naturally require the permission of Vivendi Games.
