While we mentioned during the chat that the game itself must be completed in English first before it can be translated, there is the possibility of translating the TSL Public Demo for RC2.

Please choose which language you would most like in there. :)  I have chosen languages that I think I can find people within our team who may be willing to translate to them.  However, I would prefer team members to work on Shadows rather than RC2, so if any of you are willing to help translate, please mention this in your post. ;D

Oh, and as for my vote, the more the better! XD

I'd be happy to translate it into German, of course, I'd also LOVE to see what's going on in Shadows....::) :P

While I find game translations redundant, often ridicules and almost always failing to capture the original meanings/nuances, I'd be more than happy to translate the demo to Hebrew (If you have Hebrew fonts and a right-to-left writing option).
I don't think there'll be much demand for it, though ;)

I could probably help with the Dutch translation. Not that I ever choose Dutch subtitles, or even speech (when it's available) on an English-spoken DVD, if I have the chance, mind you. :P

I know what you mean, but there's also nothing stopping you from replacing an english cliche or sarcastic remark with an equivalent in the other language! ;D

Dialogue voices won't be recorded in other languages, so as long as the text can fit in the box at the bottom of the screen, you have plenty of freedom.  I'm not sure how many characters it holds (probably 300 or something like that) but we may be able to dynamically alter the font size, or have the subtitles switch to the next while the dialogue is still talking. :)

I'm fluent in French (non-native speaker). If you want to do French and can't find anyone better, feel free to look me up.

Hehe thanks, but I'm the same. :P

I'd prefer native speakers to do the translations, as they know better cliches and proper grammar.

Latin.  I mean, that would be Graham's native language!

Unfortunately, I'm not very fluent in it.

In that case, I'd be able to do the English translation! :D What? Already done? Wow, that was fast. :P

I voted french. Vivendi is based there, aren't they?

Hi, i played the demo and it`s not bad for a pre-alpha demo. I loved to do the translation for RC2 in dutch. I think working together with several other translators would be the best but that`s for you to decide. I don`t know if you have some idea when the translating must be done?

Yonkey

Don't worry, I'll announce it.  I don't have any time right now to start just yet.

Hi !
Just in case you need some help, I 'have' native french and spanish... I mean I was born in Mexico but from french parents... I kinda speak both languages fluently....  ;)
Let's save KQIX and revive adventure gaming !

Is this really a good idea?  :-X

Well, yeah, it is.  :D

However, if you translate the demo to a certain language, the full game ALSO has to be translated to that certain language.  Or else, it'll be like giving a kid a lollipop, letting them suck on it for one minute, and then taking it away from them.  Poor poor kid...  Is everyone prepared for this?  :-[  I hope so.

As for a language...I'd say Japanese!!  But, I'm not fluent in it at all.  Lol.

As for translating jokes...not all jokes can be translated to certain languages because I'd think not ALL languages utilize sarcasm or even know what sarcasm is.  Like, if a foreigner listened in on an English conversation using a lot of sarcasm, they'd think something completely different was going on.

And as for translating into some languages...does your text parser parse unicode-encoded characters or just ansi-encoded characters?

Yonkey

I think Unicode, but I'll say ANSI for now, just to be safe. :P

Also, it won't be possible to translate voices, since it's not like we have multilingual talented actors of 200+ people each per language standing by, or something. :P

Travesty

Finnish. I would not mind translating the demo to finnish, cant make any promises of the full game though.

Hi,

Long time no see, sorry.  :'(

But I'm back and I'd want to work in the Spanish (Spain) version, if possible.

Will be the GUI items translated (as you can see in the screenshot I did)?

For those interested, I did a spanish translation patch.

It's UNOFFICIAL, and the translation is done 'a grosso modo' (not very exact and may have misspelled words). I promise I'll make the best with RC2 that will be more similar to the end game and have corrected some issues with texts that RC1 have. Also, the images will be more precise (if not exact) to the english ones.

It's available at http://la-aventura.net/baja/traducciones/

It'd only work with RC1 Patch 2.0 and please, DON'T DISTURB THE TSL TEAM ABOUT THIS PATCH. Misspelings, textual problems etc goes to me (well, if you find a bug in the program, it goes to TSL Team ;) )
