Translating the TSL Public Demo

Latin.  I mean, that would be Graham's native language!

Unfortunately, I'm not very fluent in it.

...but then... I wouldn't really think that Graham's native language would be Latin.

I think Unicode, but I'll say ANSI for now, just to be safe.

I tried to translate a couple of strings into Russian and found that it really uses only singlebyte encoding. And this can be a problem 'cause we have other glyphs situated in 192-255 codes. There are several possible solutions:
1) Simply overwrite fonts with ones from translation pack (but you used a non-standart format of file, yep?)
2) Implement a mechanism that converts it to right twobyte encoding
3) Consider using Unicode in con files.

The file is plain text, but I guess it's ASCII.

1) I don't believe this will be worth the effort for a Demo.
2) This may be a possibility.
3) Well, the *.con files you can open in Notepad, so there's nothing fancy about them. 

It's more the engine code that reads and parses the ASCII file.  Since the Torque engine has been upgraded, the engine might already have built-in Unicode support now.  I'll have to check this later.

Ok, and be shure there are a lot of people in Russia who would like to see the game with Russian subtitles. Our team and I can try to help you with this as we've translated several games like KQ1VGA, Maniac Mansion Deluxe, New Adventures of Zak McKraken, The White Chamber and The Inventory e-zine, of course :-)

Keep in mind that Phoenix Online Studios is no longer working on anything related to the demo, and that this includes sanctioning fan-made translation patches. If you are offering to translate Shadows itself, this is appreciated but keep in mind that no final decision on translations will be made until after the release.
