Hey Lord Fifee, I'm wondering if you've been trying to run the game in a window instead of full screen. For me, I had the same problems you had with the slowness, especially in the Great Hall. Part of the issue is with the Great Hall (and Graham's room) being in real time. Anyway, when I ran the game in the window, the majority of the slowness disappeared. Also, it helps to play the demo a few times, because each time you play, it will speed up the game play a bit, since the game is learning how to cache itself. :)

I hope this helps a bit :)

Lord Fifee

Cool, it works! Thanks! ( Though the Great Hall still is a little slow, but I don't care, and also, I got a message 'out of memory' or something )
Now, I see all those other bugs are outside too, but I still don't care.

Good job, and thanks!
WOW! I like your game! Keep up the good work! Fansite coming soon... (Kq1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9!)

No problem, I'm glad I could help :) You may still have to play through the demo a few times. I've played through this version twice and it's still kinda slow in the Great Hall, but it did better the second time through. I really should play again and see how it's running this time :)

The Game looks Awsome, i cant wait for the full version.

The Game is smooth, but in the Hall that leads to the Throne room, the Game is a bit laggy.

You guys did a huge mistake, in KQ6 when Alexander went to the Castle dressed in Woman's clothing, a man came up to him and told him to go wash the Dishes in the Kitchen. The door on the left, now it goes to the Courtyard.

I thought this was a Point and Click Game, now it has to many Buttons and its a bit complicated.

I have AT least 256 Megabytes of ram. Maybe more... I'm also running this on windows XP. So Is it a problem with my ram Or my Processing speed (833 Pentium 3).

Really Enjoyed the demo! :suffer:

Well I had some random slow down issues on my machine, and have Intel 3.2 ghz processor, 2 gigs of ram, a 256 megabyte Nvidia Geforce 6800 Ultra. For some reason the bottom of the stairs with all the torches would get really sluggish, but it didn't happen every time I ran the demo.

Well you have only double suggested bare minimum system requirements for ram for windows XP. And minimum system requirements are a use at your own risk situation. They are barely enough to run XP let alone any 3-d programs on top of it... Most games require excessive amounts of ram.

XP should be run with at least 512 megs of ram, if not more for gaming really.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

I seriously thought the demo kicked serious you know what.  The only problems I experienced was a lot of slowdown in most areas that had a lot going on, even in the lowest graphics setting, perhaps I need faster than a 2.4 Ghz?  And most of the time Graham floated across the ground instead of walking.  Sometimes i would get thousands of icons on the screen at once from moving my mouse cursor, but basically minor things for a demo of a game that's not complete and will probably be fixed by the final version... I do thank you guys for this demo, I've been wanting to actually play the game ever since I watched the video for it... and to say the least I'm very impressed.  Keep up the good work, looking forward to the final version.  :D

Have you tried running it in the window instead of full screen? You can find that in the Options menu. Also, it may help if you play the demo at least a couple times. That way, it helps your computer figure out how to cache everything :)

The reason the great hall is so slow is because it's a huge screen, the biggest one. The courtyard is similar in size, so you'll probably experience the same thing there.

Nope, that's not it. I didn't experience that problem anywhere except the main hall and Graham's room, which leads me to think Lord Fifee's theory about the reflections is correct (though I originally thought it was because of the large number of torches there).
Also, with speed it's usually not the size of the room that counts, but more how many moving objects the computer has to render.
I tried decreasing the resolution, but it didn't really help :-\

Storm, did you try running the game in the window instead of full-screen?

Also, it's the reflections which make the Great Hall so laggy. It's in real-time, since the reflection with reflect anywhere Graham walks. But usually by running it in the window will fix most of the lagging :)

Two things you should do if that screen comes up.

One is make sure you have enough Memory on your Hard drive, (ussually at least 1 GB) ANd Put some more RAM into your Computer. I noticed taht when I play games with 256 I get alot of Lag and the game will kick the out. I would suggest having At least 512 of Ram (If your using Windows XP).

Hello! This Erik Parkin I just downloaded your Demo it looks very Nice! You should be proud of what you've accomplished! :)

I am writing today to report a few issues. First, I run Windows XP service pack two on a Pentium 4 with 512 megs of ram and 30 gigs of harddrive space. I am not sure of the graphics card. But, I am pretty sure its open gl since your Demo will run! I can walk the king from the starting point to his bedroom just fine. The animation looks very Nice. I can open the bedroom door fine. Then when I enter his bedroom. The animation gets real choppy and the mouse moves all over the screen without me touching it. it goes very slow. Then,  After I go back into the hall everything works OK again. Then when I enter the great hall it goes slow again and the mouse starts moving by itself again! I can't tell if this is a problem with my machine or with your Demo!. But I thought I'd let you know anyway. Your game is really coming along! Way to Go! :)

The lag issue has now been resolved and will be patched in TSL Public RC1 Patch v.1.0, which will be released tomorrow. :)

The lagging was still present after v.1.0.1 but has now been fixed in Patch v.2.0 which will be available this evening.
