Bunny Commander:
I never even imagined it was possible to get through without ever talking to Saladin or the guards! That would be interesting indeed. Can you do that and still get the "hard" path ending??

BoardnationArchive

Jeysie:
Yep. In fact, you could get through the entire hard path and beat the game without ever talking to the guards, Saladin, the vizier, Jollo, or Cassima until the very end when you have to, although it's a bit duller that way.

MangoMercury:
HEY, HEY, WHAT A FIX,
BATHIN' IN THE RIVER STYX!

Man, I've missed your page!  Thanks for the sound updates

BoardnationArchive

The Knight:
I've tried this on a couple different computers and the same thing happens.

If you drink the 'Drink Me' Bottle in the same screen you got it(outside the Chessboard Land Gates.).  When Alexander revives the gates are missing.

Jeysie:
Mercury: NP, dudette. I've got some weird WAVs to post here, too, as soon as I have time to get them sorted through.

Knight: Yeah, I noticed that too. How bizarre. What an awfully big glitch to get by the beta testers! (Especially since I would think most people would probably try swigging the bottle on that screen, anyway.)

Peace & Luv, Liz

The Knight:
The gate glitch may have been on purpose.  I'm not sure why though.  But most people would try the drink on the same screen it was picked up from as you said.  I wonder if a glitch like that is on any other screen if you drink the bottle?

BoardnationArchive

MangoMercury:
How odd...  I've never tried that.  I can't wait until my half term off of college, I wanna spend an entire day or few on KQ6

BoardnationArchive

Storm:
I did try the gate thing - it couldn't have been on purpose because when you open the missing gate after that it still shows the gates moving. It must be an overlooked bug or one they just didn't bother to fix

BoardnationArchive

The Knight:
Or it's a programming glitch that happens on more than just that screen.  And they couldn't/didn't know how to fix it.

BoardnationArchive

oldbushie:
Or, instead of just turning you invisible, it turns other things invisible as well maybe.

Try it near the castle, see if it disappears.

Bunny Commander:
I wish I weren't at awork so I could listen!

Any of you ever go through the sound test stuff for The Longest Journey at the end? THe rubber ducky was funny!

BoardnationArchive

The Knight:
Could the sound file with Alexander saying squeak possibly have been in the sword fight between him and the Vizier?  Because the Vizier does refer to Alexander as a mouse when you click the swor don the Vizer to start the sword fight.

Don't you have speakers at work? Haha! :-p (PS, I didn't have speakers either, until I found out our new computers had built-in speakers. )
Sound test stuff for TLJ? Yep!

BoardnationArchive

oldbushie:
My favorite one from TLJ: "Jesus, Joseph and Mary!"

BoardnationArchive

Bunny Commander:
I do have speakers. But I figure listening to things saying stuff taht's clearly un-work related might be "unprofessional" and all. ;-)

Jeysie:
Jeysie -
How did you manage to hear the KQ6 audio as WAV files?

BoardnationArchive

MangoMercury:
Woah, new sounds   That wedding Music line cracked me up.  I dunno why, I find dumb things funny.

Yes, we wanna know how you got these wavs!

BoardnationArchive

dragonslyr:
I remember Jeysie saying about using some program to WAVs in games. And the one with I'm sorry Cassima is when you die in the sword fight... The one with fight you fool is the Vizier.

BoardnationArchive

Jeysie:
Dragonslyr: I guessed the "Sorry... Cassima" file is probably from the sword fight, I just don't know to get that file to play. None of the swordfight-related deaths I've found so far produce that particular line. Any ideas?

The other line could be the vizier, but if it is the actor slipped his acting... it's more guttural than the other lines, and lacks the usual cadence of the vizier's accent, at least to my ears.

The Knight: It might be, although there's a WAV of the Narrator saying "Squeak" too. I just thought Alexander's was funnier-sounding.

Everyone else: Dragonslyr's right... I use a program to listen to/extract the WAVs from the audio file. It's a freeware program called Game Audio Player, and it's one of my favorite utilities. If a commercial game has digital sound and/or music, it can probably extract it.  Be warned though... there's over 6000 sound files in the KQ6 resource.aud... half of which seem to consist of multiple takes on lines and the Narrator saying "You can't (insert action here)" type lines.

The Knight:
I have Gap as well.  But I only know how to extract the entire audio to a WAV.  How do you extract only the audio you want?
