OB, in Inisfree, the "s" is slender: in Irish Gaelic, i and e are slender vowels and take slender consonants. The slender "s" is pronounced like the sh in English. (Though an "sh" in Gaelic is pronounced similarly to the "ch" in the German ich). I'm not sure how the term Inisfree came to be, but the first part is distinctly Gaelic and is pronounced as such (inis literally means isle or island).

Wow. I must have done terribly singing "Lake Isle of Innisfree" in Southern Division. :P

Delling

well, I don't know the words to that one, but "inis" is really the only Gaelic in the Isle of Inisfree (though when I was looking up the lyrics b/c I was thinking of singing it, I found lyrics that included whole verses of Gaelic... though I think those were remixes).

Sorry, I'm not rerecording that song *again*.... XD

I did notice on the Celtic Woman CD that the s did sound vaguely like sh... but then I thought it was my imagination. :P At the very least I made the s in Inisfree soft... XD

Oh, and for those needing a recording program, try Audacity. It's free and easy to use, and let's you record up to 30 minutes or more at a time I think (depends on your system).

I didn't think you would... but it bugged me so I thought I'd be informative and point it out  ;D(and thus make it stop bugging me)... also, it was actually "Si do mhaimeo i" from Celtic Woman that first interested me in learning Gaelic
*is still really horrible at it*

Yeah... maybe... I'm thinking of doing "Harry's Game" which is completely Gaelic (but I like the symbolism of the sun and moon and the English translation (which I'll post)... also...  nobody else take it j/k). I recorded it once already and it's far too soft... ...after fiddling with the mic for almost an hour before I even tried recording, I apparently failed to adjust the actual volume of the mic itself (one should always inspect such things, me thinks). Will post tomorrow, can't tonight... my brother came downstairs and he's a big enough pain when not trying to sing.

Which song will you be singing? :)

XD
I definitely won't be doing both singing and judging.  Besides, anyone who's heard me talk can verify that I have a horrible voice. ::)
