Beta Testing

Anywayz while talking about specifications just thought i would mention that im getting a new computer

Using beta testers to determine the minimum hardware specs is a part of testing.  But as said earlier since the game is "classified" in a sense, we cannot do a public beta where anyone could download it -- there would be a size limit to the number of testers.  

The testers (outside the team) will be interviewed and have to be people that we trust, so becoming a beta tester would mean they become part of our team.  They would probably have to agree to a contract with terms (the major one being that they cannot send a copy, or reveal any details to anyone outside the team).  Besides getting to see the game early, a tester would be expected to report their findings (or lack of findings), and would have specific deadlines to meet as well.  

Anyway, I don't want to get into any more specific details about beta testing because we aren't at that stage of development yet, nor are we looking for testers right now.  We will let you guys know when we are, since finding a tester is easy, but finding one that qualifies is another story.

Soooo, what causes a person to be qualified to be a beta tester?  (sorry, posted this for fun, although I'm sure you're wanting the topic to die...or, at least, you feel like we're being annoying fans!  lol)

Let's see...not athletic...can we substitute something for the mile in 1 minute?  I'm an awesome cook (ask anyone in my family), but give me 1 hr and 5 min, and the feast will be ready.  With God, all things are possible, and Jesus said he could make a mountain move, so I'll just do lots of praying for the sea to turn to stone (oh, wow, look...the sea is stone!), throw water onto fire and freeze it...the fire is now ice!  And show Death a mirror...he's crying...here, take my hanky!

I think what she meant was, which skills (other than being very secertive) would make you prefer one beta-tester over another? would, say, studying computer science give you an adventage there? *hint*

Well, I know in general that the thing desired most is a wide variety of different systems, though generally restricted to the types of computers the game company is trying to support. Also, some previous beta experience helps, and if you are really good at pixel hunting and playing out extreme combos of items in inventory, stuff like that, then you have good skills. Basically, trying stuff no one would dream of doing regularly is a good way to check for errors.

But again, beta testing for KQ9 is still extremely tentative, and most likely it might just be a test of the interface and stuff without actually revealing plot or new lands.

I know I would try my hardest...not actually sure what's required for beta testing, but like I said, I'll try...just gotta wait patiently.

Thanks Jeysie for answering that for me.  I don't think they'll have debug codes.  Atleast, if they do they probably won't let the Beta testers know what they are!  You know--I have no idea what a debug code is unless it's just a cheat code!  lol

Debug code is a cheat code , except the real use for a cheat code is for beta testers to pass the game easily and get it on the shelves quicker
