Hey

As I've heard spoken that the storyline of TSL will be darker and more mature, and that the characters will be truly human and have faults, I wonder if these faults will cause problems with the other characters. After watching the Lion in Winter, it made me wonder if any plotting will figure into the plot of TSL, and perhaps personal problems as well. Any thoughts, or word?

If you mean the royals plotting against each other, that is most unlikely, for the following reasons:

In The Lion in Winter, the plot revolved around succession to the throne.  The King, Queen, and their children were all plotting who would succeed the King.  In TSL, the plot revolves around Graham, Alexander, and Rosella all trying to solve a problem for Valanice.  So the plot does not lend itself to plotting, if you will pardon the pun.

It's conceivable that, in a subplot, Alexander and Rosella plot who will succeed to the throne of Daventry.  However, as you get to play both Alexander and Rosella, this seems most unlikely, as you would get to play both sides of the conflict.

Since the only royal that you don't get to play is Valanice, then either the plotting would have to be against Valanice, or Valanice would have to be plotting against one or more of the other three.  The former is unlikely, as the object is to help Valanice.  The latter case, Valanice plotting against one or more of the other three, is the only possibility that seems plausible, yet I don't think that that is part of the story.

Of course, the evil characters will be plotting against the royals.  And I think that it has already been stated that personal problems will be a big part of the story.

Actually, they are not trying to solve a problem for Valanice. Valanice is just one of the elements of the bigger plot that takes place in TSL, but it's far from being a Valanice story or a problem revolving around Valanice. Just wanted to clarify that :) The story actually revolves around Alexander and Rosella, and in a way, Shadrack.

As for "plotting", not so much in the terms of who would suceed, but there is a lot of conflict, especially between Alex and Rosella and Graham and Valanice.

"Back in my day we weren't rendered in fancy 3D!"

"Stop whining, or Mannanan won't be the only one forcing you to clean chamber pots!"

"Graham, it just occurred to me that you saw my image once and from that moment wouldn't stop until I was yours. Isn't that called stalking?"

"Alexander! Use your genie to try to trick your sister into committing a fatal mistake one more time and you're grounded, young man!"
Once the votes are read, the decision is final. The person voted out will be asked to leave the Tribal Council area immediately. I'll read the votes...

Amusing as always, Tribe. :P

I loved the Lion in Winter, I'd have nothing against the plot evolving around succession to the throne, but I know that's unlikely. Chances are, if Graham does die, the throne will probably go to Alexander, IIRC Salic Law just made women be able to inherit, it didn't put them before the heires masles, though.

Its actually possible for a King to rule two nations actually. It happened quite a few times in history ;).
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg
