IA developing SQ2 remake?

No, actually, Project X isn't a remake.  You'll see about that game in the future.

With QFI, what I mean is that the game has been redesigned and rewritten several times since we first conceived it years ago.  We started a version of it, became dissatisfied with the direction, and started over again from scratch.  Because of the sheer size of the game, it's taking a bit of time!

Were any of the changes made to avoid intellectual property issues? For example, you've changed one of the locations from Spielberg to Lucas (or something similar). Was that to make it more "inspired by Quest for Glory" rather than have it definitely in the QFG universe?
Once the votes are read, the decision is final. The person voted out will be asked to leave the Tribal Council area immediately. I'll read the votes...

Well, officially, I'd say no comment.

But, off the record, yes, intellectual property rights were a concern.

Just for those who don't know and wish to, IA is having a chat meeting on their website's java chatroom on Sunday April 1st at 4:00 PM EST time. Yes it's on April 1st but it's not a gag. In fact IA are openly admitting to not doing any April Fool's jokes on account of them being stupid.

If java is disabled or non-existent in your browser you can get in with any IRC chat program with the following info:

Server: Loopy.NJ.US.VillageIRC.net
Room: #infamous
Ports: 6660-6670, 7000, 9999 (SSL)

This is the chance to ask all those questions that have been going through your mind (not that we're obliged to answer ALL of them...hehe).

Hope to see you all there.

Storm

Let me just say... Rrrrrrrrright ::)
Years of experience have taught me to never trust anything said/released on April 1st around here. If you want to make a dramatic announcement or release, there are 364 perfectly fine days in the year which won't make people wonder if it's a prank or not - so choosing this particular date is trying to mess with people's heads from the get-go.

IA don't strike me as the types who'd knock something just because it's stupid, especially the long-standing tradition of April Fool's jokes ;P They already have a pretty good track record for messing with peoples heads with their "Secret Project X" and unexplained SQ2 VGA screenshots... I don't think I'd be able to attend that chat without the constant fear of some IA joker coming up the next day saying "Remember all that stuff we told you yesterday? Gotcha! April Fool's!! heheheh".
"Never argue with idiots. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

TribeHasSpoken

The guys at IA do have a peculiar sense of humor, and I believe it's their intention to get people wondering if a joke is going to be played on them. That having been said, I believe that any announcements made during the chat will be absolutely genuine.
Once the votes are read, the decision is final. The person voted out will be asked to leave the Tribal Council area immediately. I'll read the votes...

IA "are a game development group focused on bringing adventure games back into the mainstream by updating classic adventure games as well as creating new masterworks of our own."

There site is here.

They've already released a remake of KQ III (which I really like ;D) and are working on a game based off Quest for Glory but playing as a villain called Quest for Infamy: So You Want to be a Villain and a secret game called "Project X".
They may be working on a remake of SQ2, this hasn't been confirmed.

Well the AGDI April Fools' are legendary but really, too much of a good thing can be bad. And this is the case here. I can say in pure truth that IA aren't pulling an April Fool this year (whether on April 1st or not). They're all bored of them. And I agree. We're just having it on April 1st because....it's the irony of it. So don't worry guys, no jokes this year.

And how do I know? Why, I'm on the team.

PirateKingChris

Thanks for the response anyway tesss....I must not have refreshed in time to see your post when I edited :P

And now it has.

Indeed it has. Head over to the IA website now for a live chat where you can ask any question and we'll probably answer. Check it out!

I've actually known since February that the SQ2VGA project was genuine. Certain members of IA swore me to secrecy, but they never had to worry that I was going to tell anyone before they made an official announcement.

It was only because of your l337 hacking skills that you knew about it.  :P Heh, just kidding but thanks for not spilling the beans... even though we trusted you anyway.

Yes, we are remaking Space Quest 2 and we hope to have an estimate release date of "soon." We've already put a lot of work into it and in terms of production (minus the beta testing and bug fixing) we can safely say we're pretty much half done. The game is nearly playable from start to finish and some of the sprites and art are absolutely fantastic... so you really are in for a treat I can tell you that!

If you pop over to our website you can find more on the SQ2 remake. Here though we can show a cool little demo of what's to come. Well, close enough anyway.

Nice Demo but really short!  I like how you start out in another place.  I will refrain from saying more for those of you who have not tried it yet.  <grin>

Actually, I found out when I was informed the delivery of my clones would be delayed because of extra time needed to complete Vohaul's clone insurance salesmen. You owe me some clones, man!

Yeah... about those clones.... it's gonna be just a bit longer.

But we'll send you 3,477 copies of unsold "Star Wars II: Attack Of The Clones" DVD's we have!
